What subjects would you consider 'taboo' on the Escapist forums?

To be clear, I don't mean any topic that is directly banned by the rules of conduct.

I'm just interested in what you forum goers out there think is unacceptable for this community, by some sort of implicit understanding.

Please keep it clean.

As an example, I think console wars have become sort of taboo these days. People are tired of dealing with people who won't ever change their minds.

Hmm, I guess zoophilia is still pretty taboo. I posted a thread about my love for an animated, fictional dog and i got labeled a puppy rapist. o_O

Not that im normal but i certainly wouldnt rape a puppy. Sick.

Piracy is pretty taboo here.

Even the grey areas of piracy are pretty taboo and you can get banned for admitting to being a pirate.

Apparently "What don't you like about The Escapist" is one, as that thread got the "no bumping" treatment.

Pedophilia, I'm sure. I'd say the taboo stuff is stuff that's "sick," not quite everything "illegal" since I've seen my share of mention of killing people.

Waaaaaaaaaaat? I just looted an admiral's ship and I was about to go brag about it right after I bid on a wooden leg...

Posting a thread about anything remotely similar to anything that has even been mentioned on a previous one even if said thread has been dead and unseen for more than a decade.

Yeah, cause I totally wasn't expecting a joke on the raping and pillaging pirates.

Do the moderators do that? Without even alerting the users? Thats not awfully nice.

Any mention, no matter how slight, of the possiblity, no matter how small, that Valve is not god's gift to gaming and flat out the greatest develpoers ever.

That and any dislike, however small, of Half Life, Gordon Freeman or Alyx Vance.

Yep. You could still post in it, but it wouldn't get brought back up.

EDIT:Oh crap how do I realize that the thread title is 'On the Escapist' 2 hours later?

Anyway, I guess Piracy is and will be for a long time.

Paedophilia is a perfectly acceptable fetish (mind you, ONLY when it's a fetish - if it materialises in any way into real life it's terrible)

How could it possible be a "perfectly acceptable fetish" in any context??

Well, complaining about PC Elitism seems to be pretty taboo, along with anything to do with bestiality. Not that Im saying the two are at all related, but someone would probably create an imaginary connection and flame me.

Not liking Half Life, Valve, Doom etc

Liking Halo, Activision, Call of Duty etc

Basically, something will annoy someone. Whatever it is, itll anger someone. There are just some things that seem to be hated more on the Escapist.

I'd say religion (because it's pointless); pedo stuff - unless it's 4chan 'lol'-ish; piracy and modding of systems; and picture threads.

The main thing I've seen is piracy. Admitting to being a pirate is a bannable offence and admitting to support or even not hate pirates is an offence worthy of ostracism and condemnation from the community.

What what what? How? I'm not one to judge anyone on any aspect of their life or interests. I draw the line when it could affect the happiness of others.

Yeah that really bothered me. I hate the expression and would usually flick the ear of someone using it but it seemed really big brothery. No negative thoughts allowed here!
