Are vs. threads against the rules or not, I get confused. Any kind of fanboyism is frowned upon, but people still join in. For such a moderated forum, people seem be quite liberal with what they say, which is great.

Pedophilia, I'm sure. I'd say the taboo stuff is stuff that's "sick," not quite everything "illegal" since I've seen my share of mention of killing people.
Paedophilia is a perfectly acceptable fetish (mind you, ONLY when it's a fetish - if it materialises in any way into real life it's terrible)
How could it possible be a "perfectly acceptable fetish" in any context??
When it is never, ever acted upon in real life.
Be careful there, the last guy that tried to explain this got b&. A lot of people complained, because they felt it was discrimination and the ban is lifted for now. I'm gonna try and get him here. Disclaimer: I don't want to start a discussion about the moderators' actions as that is also not allowed. I'm just giving a friendly warning.

What what what? How? I'm not one to judge anyone on any aspect of their life or interests. I draw the line when it could affect the happiness of others.
Well, being sexually attracted to children is kinda weird, yes, but if they don't do anything (I don't just mean rape and whatnot, I mean jerking off to pictures and all that unpleasant stuff) it's just a very odd, uncomfertable nature.

Hell, foot fetishes make me uncomfertable and therefore affect my happiness, but they're a-okay
I suppose you have a point. As long as they never act upon it, in any way, someone who is attracted to children isn't hurting anyone. Still, I obviously dont condone it at all. Paedophilia is basically the only fetish I have moral problems with. There are some I find weird, but that is up to the person who's fetish it is, and I have no right to judge them because of it. Live and let live, etc etc
Not that this makes it any better, it's still completley weird, but I think one problem with paedophilia is the "I'm Gay = I fancy YOU" problem

When a guy/girl tells his mates that he/she's gay, they all usually start thinking along the lines of "what if he/she fancies me?"

Bearing in mind that if they were friends of the opposite sex that question would probably not arise - it's just the fact that they assume being gay = being attracted to EVERYONE of the same sex.

People think that paedos would be attracted to every child. Now, not saying that "only being attracted to certain children" is in any way more defendable - it's just this natural assumption of "Oh My God He's a Paedo, Restrain Him Now or he'll Attempt to Rape my Children!"

Yeah, I saw that guy when I was lurking. I thought that ban was an appalling slip-up and I'm glad it was corrected. It was his stand against the community and the mods that actually made me reconsider my stance on paedophilia to what I beleive now.

Again, very good point. I suppose as human beings whenever we are introduced to something different to what we're used to, the instant reaction is fear and loathing, and that is never the best response.

People are stupid. A person can be sensible, but people are idiotic creatures, and thats not an antisocial declaration. Its a behavioural fact.

Telling people that ad-blocker does....something. Seen a lot of bans but I'm still not sure what it does because I used IE and not Firefox.

Any mention, no matter how slight, of the possiblity, no matter how small, that Valve is not god's gift to gaming and flat out the greatest develpoers ever.

That and any dislike, however small, of Half Life, Gordon Freeman or Alyx Vance.
Valve isn't God's gift to gaming... Bioware is.
Not really. But I dont want to turn this inot a "mass effect isnt an rpg" argument thread.
Ok, I wouldn't have guessed that was whay you were thinking until you said that you didn't want it to be an arguemnt, but since you said it I'm kind of wondering why you think that.

Yeah, that's the guy, and I was careful not to mention his name, maybe you should edit your post. I felt the same way, TBH I didn't understand it. Then he explained it to me, and now I have a completely different view. But to be clear, child molesters should be tortured.

They block the Escapist's biggest revenue source, and the reason we can enjoy this wonderful site for free. I actually like commercials, love them in fact.

To clarify, it's only ME2. Most think so because it doesn't have any inventory management and the leveling system is too limited. Which I agree with. It isn't an RPG, it's a story focused 3rd person shooter, and an awesome one at that. Sorry for butting in, but I figured I'd save you some time.

Piracy and Furries seem to be the two big ones, for whatever reason.
I dont see furries on "normal" forums very often. I was starting to think that im the closest thing to a furry this forum has seen.

Definitely not, they have a group.
One of them has also taught me a lot about the difference between furries and jiffers.

Well I never played Sonic Chronicles so I have no opinion on it, and age and release number has nothing to do with quality, Capcom and Atari have been around a while and most of their IP is shit. And Demon's Souls wasn't terrible because of its difficulty, it was just really boring and I couldn't get into it, Atlus is good at making JPRGs, at least from my experience, they shouldn't try to make a game reminiscent of WRPGs.
And I think that Bioware is the best developer of games with deep believable charecters.
Also fuck Valve, just thought I'd throw it out there.
You didn't miss anything it may not have been as bad as most of 'Team Sonic''s stuff, but it tried its best.

It does because they've had more time to make both good and bad games.
Bioware releases very few games, for whatever reason, so it's easier on them when most fans 'judge' their catalog of games.

That's you, I found DS to be a rather engaging game and not some mindless FPS or TPA with combo spam.
Played any of their FPDC? Atlus can 'do' old school games right...when they want.

I'd say you're pushing it there...'believeable characters'...mmm, I'd have to think on that.

Valve is okay, they're just slow and CS still blows - can't stand to play in SP or MP.

Fair enough. I'm not the one to talk. I find myself attracted to a fictional dog from a movie.
I remember reading your thread when you declared it to the world and I see absolutely no problem with it. He's an incredibly cute character. I dont see anything wrong with loving a fictional character, whether the character is human or not.
Well, you are obviously among the more tolerant users. But, yeah thats nice to hear :)

Nonetheless, I think that most people just thought it too absurd to be true and decided to joke about it - rather than finding any unethical aspect in it.

I'd consider it a 3rd person shotter with RPG elements, but I agree that almost all the RPG elements from the first game were stripped, still a damn good game.

Fight Club.

because you DON'T TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB! ok seriously?

anything drugs & alcohol related, probably... or if you get probation for it, don't talk about it
