The only surgery I've had was having my wisdom teeth taken out.

That was an interesting adventure.

Maybe one day I will have lazer eye surgery done that way I don't have to keep spending so much money on my glasses. That and I look forward to the day when I can stop feeling like an idiot when I forget where I put my glasses when I take them off, and they're on my head. >.>
I had to start wearing glasses for driving recently do I know the feeling.
my girlfriend, when I met her had awfull eyesight. She got laserd and now has great eyesight!

also I'm left scratching my head at people that wear glasses as a fashion accessory :/
My eye sight isn't bad, and my prescription is rather low and has been that way for years. So I think I might get it done when I get the money since it wouldn't be too much of a big deal.

But I remember when I first got glasses and I was looking around outside and it was like, "Holy shit! There's leaves on trees!"

As for an accessory, I'm at a loss too. Especially the glassless ones because I have no idea what the hell that is all about. :/

Never had any, but I need stuff done with my teeth and sooner or later I'll have to face up to that =(

Other than that, don't think I've ever needed surgery. Needed to see a doctor plenty of times without doing it though. Yes, I'm an idiot.

Only had fimosis, that was very awkward during my teenage years. That doctors appointment, did not help self-esteem at all.

Fortunately I have not had much problem with my teeths aside from a couple during my pre-teen years.

Only boring stuff like having my wisdom teeth removed and some laser eye surgery to correct nearsightedness.

Unfortunately, I'm a tough basterd.

Right temporal labectomy, over a decade past. I'll let you google that one. I was given the option to be either awake or asleep during the major cuts, although I needed to be awake for the first half or so because the docs had to prod me and make sure nothing important was cut. Remember that scene from Saw 3? It's an odd experience being on the receiving end. I came out better for it, no side effects outside of a "?" shaped scar where there once were thick staples. Getting those yanked out was fun - my mother, a pair of pliers, and a good bit of yanking and pulling.

Tremendous hernia in my groin had my balls looking like a single balloon.

That's all I remember going under the knife for.

I was in a car crash at around the age of 3. I don't remember the exact details, but apparently it was my first near death experience. Not quite as adorable as a kids first birthday. I was in a car seat. It was not properly buckled in so the seat was loose.

If my mother had double checked and made sure that I was strapped in properly I would have been crushed. The fact it was loose prevented me from taking the full brunt of a car being flung into a ditch. Dead. On the spot.

As it was I got some glass in my forehead and a couple of nasty bruises. There might have been other injuries but nobody but my parents remember the details. Luckily that was the only time I was ever sent into the emergency room. And luckily I was too young to be really traumatized by the experience. With the exception of a few faint images of the hospital and ambulance it's completely behind me know.

I still carry the scars, though. They're mostly on my forehead with one on my cheek. They've been a part of me for so long that I sometimes forget that they're scars at all.

Can I ask how you get a hernia of the bollock?

Wisdom teeth removal, nbd. Discovering that they'd left a gaping shard of bone poking around in the gum line that they had to go back and file down? Slightly b-er "d". Also, got the inside of my nose cauterized, due to all the nosebleeds I'd been having. Anesthetic wore off about 1/3 of the way through. Most painful thing I've ever experienced, with the added bonus of being able to smell the inside of my nose literally burning.

You know what, I think may have won the thread.

My spine is partially titanium. Due to severe scoliosis, meaning that my spine was curved at about 65 degree in the middle, meant that I had to have surgery to straighten the spine out, and have titanium rods put in to keep it that way. I can no longer bend my spine at all.

Beat that.
I also have a severe scoliosis, though not quite as bad as that (45 degrees, which I think is the borderline for "severe"). I would get the same operation as you (or similar) except that I don't feel any pain from it, much to the surprise of my doctor. Also, my spinal cord is tethered and no scan has been able to work out why, so the operation would carry a 10-20% risk of paralysis, among other possible issues. Nobody knows if it will cause me pain in the future, but it seems too risky an operation to perform on someone who's asymptomatic.

That's the surgery I haven't had, now for the surgery I have had:

I was born with oesophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula, which means my oesophagus wasn't connected to my stomach and my oesophagus and trachea were connected (they're not supposed to be). I had to be rushed to a different hospital with the appropriate specialist team and receive life-saving surgery. I spent a month in intensive care afterward, my lung collapsed at one point. Eventually I recovered and got to go home. The cut was made across my abdomen, but because of how tissue moves as you grow the scar now runs under my right arm onto my back. I have a couple of white marks on my chest where they put the tubes in as well.

Adenoids and four iterations of grommets. Most people think my ears still don't work properly.

1 cavity, some tubes in my ear when I was 3, and two right tendon transfers, on October 12, 2006 and July 24, 2012. I have (an extremely mild* case of) cerebral palsy, so there's that.

There was also one self-performed "surgery" where I had to rip out a tooth because another was growing in front of it.

*As in whatever happened to cause it happened in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Removed the Wisdom teeth, repaired my thumb which was 2/3 of the bone was cut because of a freak band-saw accident, repaired a fractured wrist and removed rock remnants that
were stuck in my skin/skull (to young to remember).

With the exception of the wisdom teeth, I'd rather not have those accidents in my life. But then, that what's happens when you don't pay attention to important details.

First was when I was about 3, I had a deformed left thumb with another one that tried to grow, so it was removed and tubes were put in my ears. My second was when I was 4, I had an appendicitis which turned horrible: my appendix had drited into my large intestine and then ruptured, causing 3 feet or so to die. It took 2 weeks of near constant vomiting for me to be sent to the emergency room for emergency surgery, since a lower GI was inconclusive. I had 3 feet of intestine removed and spent nearly a month in the hospital recovering. My third was when I was 11. The tubes that were inserted cause problems, one punctured an ear canal and the other created a polyp, and both required surgery. It was an out patient job, but I got to wear a sweet bandage turban around, and sat home playing my N64 for around a week recovering. Nothing other than that really, though an honorable mention was fracturing my wrist after punching a guy in the face, and a broken nose from wrestling.

Mine was the laser surgery! Was darn scared and the mere thought of surgery freaked me out. Got it done at Evergreen Eye Care, Toronto. I was prejudiced about surgeries and was scared to the roots before surgery. But the experience was cool since they were very gentle with me. I don't have any issues with my eyes now. I have heard of surgery failures and was scared but this one was perfect!
