It creeps me out. It feels like they have some evil plan to brainwash the population under their sleeves...erm... hooves.

It really is a very good show. Find the first few episodes on Youtube and give them a try. Best way to see what all the hype is about. And then join our group.

Now that that's out of the way...as so many others are saying, it's a genuinely good show. It's well-animated and cute without being saccharine. I first checked it out to see what all the memes were talking about, and I got hooked.
this makes me want to punch my computer screen.

Because people (especially those on the internet) are extremely weird. While I'm not exactly saying that the show is bad (I have never seen a single episode), there seems to be nothing more memorable than the stupidly hilarious animated faces and cheesy-as-gravy phrases that are said on the show.

Is it really that hard to get? It's just like any other series that got hugely popular (and beyond) regardless of it background. If you are still can't figure it out then all I can suggest is to read this- http://cosmicspacefrog.tumblr.com/post/3997730668/welcome-to-the-herd-whats-this-an-overly-complex#notes

Maybe because this time it looks like the show is trying to cater to an audience that isn't still in diapers. Although that still didn't stop it from being everything I expected from MLP.

Apparently the animation is good, the characters are lovable and the plot is engaging but... eh, I didn't feel any of it. As far as I'm concerned, it's just another children's show drawn in bright pastel colors.

it isn't hard to get, more of just blind sided because I don't actively search for my little pony news and I noticed just recently an huge influx of my little pony avatars here.

Short version: Craig McCracken's wife is the executive producer and creative director and shit.

Long version:
1. Lauren Faust says, "I want to make A Cartoon for Little Girls which functions under the assumption that Little Girls are Intelligent and won't watch just any old crap just because it's pink."

2. Lauren Faust gets handed My Little Pony by her bosses.

3. Lauren Faust says, "Well that's not really my first choice, but I can work with this."

4. Lauren Faust spends actual money to hire actual writers instead of just asking grandma to write something flowery about bunnies, which is how I assume most cartoons that target little girls are written.

5. ToonBoom.

6. Profit.

7. Drinks in the parlor.

Its called group mentality. Some random group watches or buys some random product and now I'm expected to do it.

Iruno, it feels as if it has the same appeal as Spoungebob Squarepants. That is a whole lot of kiddie stuff with a tiny bit of adult jokes thrown in.

I used to think the same. I've always been a remarkably cynical person.

The thing with the show is that it actually IS as good as people say it is. It's made by Lauren Faust, the same lady who made Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls, and probably the last remnant of good cartoon shows, up there with Adventure Time.

Same here, and while the morals are pretty obvious, the characters act naturally off each other. I like the conflict between their personalities and desires and how they balance their rivalry with friendship.

It's suprisingly great. Lots of thought and detail went into it, it looks and sound nice, it's actually funny, and despite its core audience being young girls, there's tons of humor in there that older folks can understand. The characters are varied and relatable, and the voice actors of each were chosen perfectly.

It was made my Lauren Faust, the same woman who made Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Plus, it's fucking cute.
