What makes this game different from other MMO's? What are the main features? And yes, I am familiar with Final Fantasy universe, lore, mythology, etc. Just curious to see how it translates into MMO world. If anyone has played the beta or reading the previews, let me know. Thanks.

If FF XIV is a more polished and modern version of FF XI, its spiritual successor if you want to call it, then no thanks. But if it's something completely new, then they've got my attention.

No one looks to MMOs for DIFFERENT stuff. No one looks to any genre for different stuff. People get mad when they get different stuff.

I heard about this game a while ago. And considering how "great" FFXI was, I figured I would pass on this one.

But what is this about a leveling time limit?

Been hearing bad things about the beta - runs badly, bad interface, annoying time and quest number limitations, bland empty world, lack of high end content, difficult to get into, and ridiculously frequent, costly and complicated repairing.

They limit you down to 6 or 8 hours on a class/job before the EXP starts to drop for it.

You start to get less experience the more you specialize in a given class. Why? Fuck if I can tell ya.

You both need to do your research, levelling one job is limited - and that is for those that "hardcore" grind through the game, BUT, the fatigue system allows you to then start levelling another 1 of 20 jobs whilst the other "cools" down. So whereas they have "limited" per se, realistically there is an absolute shitload of stuff you can do before you even consider yourself "limited". Look int the system completely before slating the game :D

Law of diminishing returns I suppose... Still pretty stupid though.

? But if I picked the job I wanna play until I max it, why the hell should a game limit me? Why impose that limit? So I don't get ahead of everyone else? Screw that, I don't want a game limiting my time on what I like to play. Can care less if theres a bunch of other crap I can do, a limit is still a limit.

Final Fantasy universe lore? Each each game is completely different...

Anyway, just go look it up. It's not that hard to find info on it...

Heres a rather good explanation of the 'Fatigue' System (The XP limiter if you will)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abE09-tqhoM&feature=youtu.be

After looking at that explanation I dont much mind it, seems like theres some good thought put into it, but of course it depends on the game, if there is absolutely nothing else to do once you hit your "Physical" limit and you dont much care for the other classes then I'll probably pass.

But I'll deffinatly have a look at the game when its released and probably revisit it after a couple of months.

...LOL

Well, that's lame. Whatever, I won't be playing it, especially now. Another mediocre, at best, MMO from Square it seems.

Oh well, seems like one of those, do something to limit play time so people will be more inclined to go outside and live an active lifestyle.

...Obviously, Square doesn't know the gaming community very well.

Pretty much. My main beef with it (besides the fact that it sounds like an irritating, tacked on mechanic) is that some classes, at least in MMOs, just gain XP better.
Let's take two in-game jobs: Gladiator and Thaumaturgist. Gladiators are tanks, Thaumaturgists are ranged dps. In a party of multiple players, each filling a role, there wouldn't be much difference in how much xp everyone gets based on class, but when you're solo grinding, the Gladiator's going to take a much longer time killing enemies than the Thaumaturgist, especially at higher levels. This means the tank is going to level slower than the caster, meaning if you give them the same time limit for gaining xp, the caster's just going to be naturally higher in level.
Now, say they balance it by extending the time the Gladiator has until it's fatigued. That would just undermine the whole point of it all, the idea that the longer you spend in one class, the slower you develop. So either the system is going to be hella broken, or it's going to be totally pointless.

I played FFXI it was crap beyond crap rosted with crap. then i saw FFXIV then i got curious checked online found out it was not as bad as the FFXI so i decided to to reaserve it but right before i was about to reserve it i relized that they wanted 14.00 a month so i yelled a lound to heck with it. i paye for 2 months of FFXI and it was the biggest lost of money right below flushing it down the john.and if u think your goona trick me into payin 14.00 a month for this no no no you better drop that price if u expect me to play this hame....but whats the point since im pretty suremost people here are already savin up to buy this no matter how much the subscription is so there.

If you want to know what it's like just look at XI and imagine it with better graphics.

I was fairly excited about trying out a Final Fantasy MMO, but that exp limiter just sounds cheap as hell. Unless they work out some fancy subscription where you pay for playtime it'll just be a big obvious money making scheme.

You can't charge someone for a month's subscription and then pull the bombshell that they can only play for 8 hours a week, unless it's like GW and has a heavy focus on the story rather than leveling that's just plain stupid.
