What the hell happened to my xbox?

So a few days ago, I entered a promo code for 48 hours of free Xbox Live. (I had rented a certain "modern" game that im sure your sick of hearing about and wanted to try out the multiplayer.) I had the game on when the 48 hours ran out, and was returned to the dashboard. I went to sign back into my profile, but according to my Xbox, I apparently didn't have one. Ok, no biggie, i'll just reset the console. Still nothing. I go to system settings to check out the memory, and it tells me I have no storage device- not even the HD! After making a few angry comments and references about my iPod as if it were my older and more successful child, I resorted to emailing Xbox support. They have yet to reply to my email.
I'm beginning to suspects that they kidnapped all my data and wont give it back until I subscribe to Xbox Live...

So, has this ever happened to any of you guys? Do any of you have and idea how to fix it? God knows I have more confidence in you guys then those trained-on-a-budget chimps at Microsoft.

Did you try calling 1-800 Microsoft? You might get faster service than through an email. And are you sure your HDD is all hooked in correctly? Just askin. Please don't freak out.

My fiance has used them a few times and never had an issue.

can't say i've ever had this happen, and never had a friend have it happen. But i just recently installed all the expansions for FFXI last night, and this morning the disc would not work in my drive, also, the data took up space on my hdd, but it doesn't show it anywhere, so i can't even delete it. *gigs of hdd used up and i can't even undo it*. I think mine is just my disc drive, but I'm thinking yours could just be a simple hdd problem.

Feed it to Godzilla! HE demands the Sacrifice!

Call it. You'd be suprised how they have paid people to help you.

Rather than random forum Goers that will tell you to feed it to gozilla[/sub]

yes, this did happen to me, and Microsoft being full of cheap assholes told me to send it in for repair for around $100. Since the X-box that had now lost its memory had already broken 4 times before, I just decided to buy a new one and my new X-box hasn't broken since.

Yea, ive been trying to avoid actually calling them. I dont like phones very much, and theres a good chance ill become a little irritated and start calling them names. Oh well, looks like i might have to suck it up.
I really hope it turns out to be a problem with the xbox itself and not the hdd, that way i might still have my data.
