This has begun to piss me off. It just seems as though Diablo 3 hasn't moved for months, there isn't even a release date. Why is it taking them so long. For a long time Diablo fan, this lack of news is killing me. So please, if anyone has any answers could they kindly respond.
Do you not check thier site? They just released several videos showing off the spells to thier new class, The Archivist, about a week ago. But it's not in Blizzard's policy to announce every little tidbit of an update. They wait till they have something with substance.

Does anyone remember if Blizzard usually gives a release date for their games early, or if it just suddenly says "it's coming out next week"?
Nope. They usually just say soemthing like, "We're shooting for a holiday release." But then the holidays come and go and we're still left waiting. The one thing I've always loved about Blizzard is thier lack of desire to release an unfinished product. As for D3, they haven't even sent me a beta invite yet so it'll probably be a long while. Really hoping I do get my invite. Looking more forward to this game than any previous title.

Starcraft 2 is 2009. They said it already.

Diablo 3 after Starcraft 2. Probably June 2010, I bet they want to hit the 10-years mark.

Also, if your memory is faulty - Blizzard ALWAYS makes sure the game is ready. That's why they don't give release dates until they are 99.999% sure game will be done and (as much as it is possible) flawless.

It's better than EA that gives a release date, then does everything it can to make it. Cutting 4 classes and 4 major cities? No problem. Balance issues? Hey, who cares. Lack of content? Yyyyeah.

Diablo 3 will probably come out in 2011 or 2012 in my opinion. And Starcraft 2? Probably late 09 or early 10
Well, in the now two months old PcGamer magazine, they said that StarCraft 2 would be released sometime this summer.
But who knows, maybe it has been delayed...
Again...

Know someone on the inside or contribute to the company somehow. For me, I got my first Blizzard invite due to website contribution. Guess they liked what they saw, so they gave me a shot. And I try to never let them down because I do always want to be reinvited. That's why I usually write tons of bloggage and show tons of screens on whatever site I'm writing for.

If anyone ever visited Worldofwar.net pre-WoW or DII.net pre-D2, I was MaDnEsS. On Diablo.net I was MaDnEsSs though.

You do realise that The Archivist was just a april fools joke? They said this in the sites news on the 2nd of april-

"April Fools!
We hope you enjoyed our April Fools' Day events. If you missed them, check out this year's jokes:

World of Warcraft Dance Battle System Revealed
StarCraft II: Introducing the Terra-tron
New Diablo III Character Class: Meet the Archivist
Forums: Role-Playing Reversal
The Blizzard Entertainment Joke Team will see you again next year. Just kidding -- we're always around waiting to pounce."

I've noticed with Blizzard has been getting slack about news updates on the games. Typical. We'll probably get a landslide of updates, particulary for starcraft 2 in a few months I reckon.
OH GOODY!!! I just checked the website and they've released a new Battle Report

Oh that is so lame, there is no way Im getting a beta invite, alas guess I'll just have to wait till it comes out, if my computer can run it that is.

The only thing I know about D3 is that the Barbarian makes a return as a playable class as well as the Witchdoctor, and that you can now have either gender of each as opposed to D2.

Witchdoctor ftw.

Its Blizzard dude. "It will be ready when its fucking ready and not a moment before hand so shut the hell up" is basically their unofficial policy on all release dates.
The way it should be IMO.
Agreed. The longer you have to wait for a game the better it tends to be.

Nope, it's their OFFICIAL policy. This is what their Diablo 3 FAQ reads:

Blizzard on diablo3.com said:
When will Diablo III be released?

It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players. We're aiming to release Diablo III on both Mac and Windows simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages. We'll have more details to share about countries, languages, and specific dates as we get closer to release.
The message on StarCraft II was similiar for a very long time.

Yeah, I thought that the Archivist was such a lame character.

Perhaps the unofficial part is the offensive part of the sentence.

Only from Blizzard. With other companies, this means the game is a vaporware/crap.

What, you mean you liked Spore? I mean, I liked it too, for the first 2 hours... Then space part got boring. I mean, it would be decent, if not for the constant attacks from your enemies/pirates. Can't they defend themselves? Or those stupid ecological problems... COME ON! I'm a half galaxy away, you can send me an info about your troubles, but you can't solve them yourselves? Jesus Christ.
