I have too many games to list, but as of recently, Planescape: Torment is probably one of the most interesting games I've ever played (only started recently).
Was that on steam? its an older one I think, does look interesting

RPGs on Bethesda's version of the Gamebryo Engine (Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas).

Trade sims from Daniel Dumont's studios in Germany (Patrician 3 and 4, Port Royale 2, Darkstar One.)

More city-builders than you'd ever want to play, some excellent (SimCity 4, Tropico), some decent (CivCity Rome, Children of the Nile, Caesar 3 and 4), some awful (Cities XL 2011, City Life---you'd think I'd learn that Monte Cristo makes lousy SimCity clones---and SimCity Societies).

The Total War series. Rome's still my all-time favorite game.

The Civilization series. Every game since Civ2.

And a slew of others.

It's on gog.com, which is like Steam but they specialize in older games.

If I'm suggesting stuff from my library, I'll skip over the stuff everyone knows about. Legend of Legaia, a PS1 JRPG, was the first game I owned, and it was pretty good. The game has its flaws, but it's really fun, and I always loved the mythos.

A game I've been enjoying recently is Puzzle Quest. Yeah, I know, it's just a Bejeweled clone, but it's actually pretty interesting how they tie in turn-based combat with the puzzle game. And since you're against an opponent, you have to plan your moves ahead of time instead of just doing what looks best right now. The wrong move can give your opponent a big bonus.

I love Rome: Total War. I don't really see the appeal to RTS's, to be honest, but I love RTT's, at least the way the Total War series does it.

My library:

360:
Fable 2, Fable 3, Soul Calibur 4, Halo 3, Dragon Age: Origins, Last Remnant, The Orange Box, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Darksiders, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, LotR Conquest, Devil May Cry 4, Bladestorm, Lost Odyssey

Wii:
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort

DS:
New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 64, Mario Party DS, Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Justice For All, Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, Scribblenauts

Coming Soon (in the mail, hopefully... Play-Asia has messed up every order since I moved): Blazblue: Continuum Shift, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn

What I would recommend in my library:
-Dragon Age: Origins (best RPG I have ever played)
-Batman: Arkham Asylum (they nailed playing as Batman in just about every way)
-Blazblue: Calamity Trigger (awesome 2D fighting game, can't wait 'till the sequel gets to me)
-Super Smash Bros. Brawl (what can I say? It's just fun!!!)
-New Super Mario Bros. (classic, simply classic)
-All the Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney games (it seems these games slipped Extra Credits' minds in this week's video on non-combat games, but this is how you do non-combat situations and keep the excitement up)

Stay away from:
-Last Remnant (issues with the visuals get too distracting)
-Scribblenauts (sorry, it's awesome in theory, but it just doesn't work)
-LotR Conquest (failed Battlefront clone)
-Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (it may be partly because I tried to play in Japanese, but it was TOO DAMN HARD!!! Never made it past the 3rd map!!!)

I'd actually say get Wet.
Sure, it's not a great game, but it's cheap as hell right now (20 Aus dollars, I got it for.)
Lots of cheesy dialogue and killing people in slow-motion.

Not in front of my collection, so I'll skip that part.

Recommendations:

Dragon Age: Origins --I'm not a fantasy fan and I'm not even a big fan of RPG micro-managing, but I'm enjoying the game's take on the standard fantasy setting. I especially enjoy the various personalities of the companions.

Fallout: New Vegas -- a bit tougher than it needs to be in the beginning and a bit too easy after that, but i enjoyed exploring the area and learning more about the various political forces.

Call Of Duty 4 -- one of the best single player campaigns in an action oriented FPS. I'm a FPS fan from way back and this is one of the few games that smashed my expectations. There are deeper games and longer games, but this is one of the rare games that felt like there was no wasted effort or padding.

Saints Row 2 -- an over-the-top crime story attached to a game that knows a sandbox game is all about mis-behaving. Whether it's robbing people at gunpoint, donning a trenchcoat to go flashing, going car surfing down a freeway, or the numerous side quests, there is always something fun to do and a scoring system encourages you to do it to the best of your ability.

Little Big Planet -- I picked it half-expecting not to like it and was charmed beyond measure. There may be better platformers out there, but thecustomization options makethis feel like *your* game. Plus it's about time a non-FPS took advantage of all those budding level designers out there.

That's probably the major ones that I think met and exceeded expectations.

Okami, Soul Nomad & the World Eaters, Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Persona 3 FES, Persona 4, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, Ace Combat 5 and Zero, Shinibido, Final Fanrasy X and X-2, Tenchu Wrath of Heavan, Red Dead Revolver, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3, Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle, Primal, Way of the Samurai 1 & 2, Devil May Cry 1 & 3 and Sniper Elite to name a few.
Dude, I think I'm in Love, except for X-2, that game can go die...and Tenchu: Wrath of heaven was very meh. Also, I've been thinking about getting Phantom Brave, any good?

OT; Top 5 for PS3
Vanquish
Fallout NV
Folklore
Uncharted
Eternal Sonata
If you like other Nippon Ichi games then I'd definatly recomend it, if you didn't them then you should give it a miss.

I refuse to list my whole collection. As for games I recommend, Saints Row 2, Half Life 2 and it's episodes, and the Resistance games.

Edit:Oh, and any of the Unreal games.

Edit2: TF2 and Dead Rising 2.
