For that price, you can get a smoking desk top for good gaming.

Why don't you get a Tablet instead of a lap-top? More mobile... unless of course you do a lot of work on the side that needs more than just access to internet and basic PC work.

The PS4 would be last on my list but you don't nesssarily need to spend 400 + for one either, there are deals to be found out there by now.

I don't recommend HP as a brand for that first laptop the HP posted: I had to reflow the motherboard on my dad's last year because it wasn't designed to manage heat properly and it overheated to the point where it cooked both the motherboard and the hard drive; it was a common problem in that series.

Get a desktop: it'll have a longer lifespan and can easily be updated as technology advances; buy a pre-built one and just install a better video card and a power supply if it needs it.

If you're really set on a laptop, wait a month until black friday and snag something better with that money from newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, or microcenter.com.

For me 1000 dollars for a laptop is insane :/
I bought my laptop in 2012 for 600?
You may want to convert your currency, if you convert the 600 pounds to us dollars you are actually at basically 1000$. No idea where OP is but, you may have just said I would never spend 1000$ on a labtop, I just bought mine for 1000$ which is just a tad silly.
I did, I said "?" = euros.
Which is about 750 US dollars, so maybe I'd cash out 800.
But the main reason I wouldn't put more on a laptop than that is because it's mainly for deskwork. And that sum gets a pretty OK laptop with pretty much memory, so no extern harddrive is needed, and it will last, mine is 2 years old and still no problems. 250 dollars more won't get you anything more that you need for deskwork. And since gaming seems to be OPs main thing to do, I wouldn't get a laptop. Maybe if someone else would pay it, then the Razers "new" gaming laptop, but that costs closer to 3000.

EDIT: yes there are good gaming laptops out there, but they cost like hell.

Looking over most of these laptops, I'm very meh. As others have said, Laptops will constantly overheat, and to protect themselves, they will do something called "Underclocking" or "undervolting." The result of this is that there is a significant decrease in your frame-rate for some time as the computer isn't nearly as powerful anymore, until heat falls back down to an acceptable level.

The reasons why I really don't want to build a gaming PC are these:
1. No stores sell parts in Riyadh (Not gonna buy something online)
2. No idea how to put them together
3. Small table
4. My family prefers laptops over dekstops.
Don't take this the wrong way, but if you ask me, when it comes to gaming, you need a desktop. Most of the laptops I've seen here have a pretty obvious trip-up, or the specs are a little ambiguous. Getting over a fear of buying things online, and doing a bit of research, grabbing some know-how from Teacher. YouTube, you'll be able to build your own and have it work.

It also helps to find a specialty store too, as, provided they're the ethical sort, they will be able to help you out.

I would suggest, if you have a budget of $1,124, then get both. Spend the $474 on a PS4 so you have your gaming platform, then spend the remaining $650 on a basic laptop so you have your mobility, you can work on it and watch movies or whatever else it is you wanted it for.

Just my two cents.

Why not this one?

It's a gaming laptop. People can groan at that term all they want but when it comes to 'gaming, at least these things deliver. Plus, it's only 5 dollars more than what you're willing to pay for 1st choice. :p

[sub]Also, pretty red keyboard[/sub]
I was buying a laptop earlier this year and I considered that one. It's apparently got a god awful display though. I never got to see it in action, but the reviews are exceptionally negative about the monitor across the board
