RA1 was pretty dark when you go through it again. I want that back. Not the bullshit that happened in 2-3.
Oh yes that's exactly what games need. More dark grittiness. 'cos we haven't got a bunch of those around have we?
God forbid war isn't camp, might forget people actually die and aren't all standing around showing tits.
I'm sorry, I assumed games were made for escapism not trying to make me feel shit about the state of the actual world.
Definitely, keep glamorizing and mocking the death of millions.
You mean millions of pixels?

Okay, I will.

This is awesome.

So is this.

And this.

Seriously, get off your high horse. It's a fucking game. I could argue that by desiring a realistic simulation you're cheapening what actually goes on by mercilessly parodying it in a close reconstruction but one without any of the dangers or psychological torture. At least RA3 didn't pretend to be close to that but just said "Fuck it, let's go nuts."
You are going off the rails in a different discussion. Game play and story are completely separate. "Realistic simulation", Who said anyhting about that or relating to it? Gameplay is divorced from story, so your accusations are invalidated.
The story is about a World War where millions died, and millions more are going to die, and in the sequels all the characters might as well have showed up in clown makeup. It's terrible.

The story is about Albert Einstein who invented a time machine and then went back in time to assassinate Hitler. The game has always sounded like a bad fanfiction. It just took them 'til RA3 to face it head on, accept it, and dive right in.

The premise has been wearing clown makeup since day 1.

The "story" is ridiculous, and that you're giving it any weight like "millions are dying" is ridiculous. Once again: It's a game.

I want a game that does not require being bound to an account, I was working scenario editors and I want to be able to turn super weapons off.

I personally don't agree that it's terrible. Brilliant fits better I think.

I want a studio, not affiliated with, fat and greedy companies to create it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem possible.

For EA to give the franchise back to Westwood. And leave it alone.
Unfortunately franchise can't go back to Westwood as the Evil Alliance bought them out.
And then they went defunct 5 years later.

RA2(+expansion) and TibSun(+expansion) both came out under EA's Westwood by the way. RA2 being seen as one of the best games in the series so far.

Err...I think the C&C series officially ended with C&C 4. What a disappointing end to the series.

Yeah, the main C&C series, but I don't think EA mentioned Red Alert specifically. Could be wrong though. As for RA4, if it gets made, I'd like it to be less ridiculous and more exciting and emotionally intense, like the first game. I'd also like to finally see a functional MMO dimension to the RTS genre, a global coop and a global versus map where players wage war and capture small parts of the terrain with each victory and acquire ranks, experience and cosmetic rewards depending on their contribution. That would be interesting. Also, no more tactical bullshit. We have CoH for that (and DoW2 unfortunately). Leave it alone.

Sorry, but this made my day. Fucking hilarious. But yeh, hundreds of Goombas have died in countless Mario games. It doesn't mean we should feel bad.

Edit:

OT: Tits. I want more tits.

For the empire of the rising sun to return. I like that faction but I want these to return as well.

Amen to the story being ridiculous, that was the whole cool part, I was even amused by the cutscenes.
RA3 was all about wackyness, if you didn't play it that way, it's like playing GTA without going on a murderous rampage every 30 minutes just for the hell of it.
And Amnestic, I salute you for posting a Fatboy.

Heck, just add more to the current cast and you have a game I would keep playing for a good long time. A Map editor would be nice too. I love Red Alert 3.

More Tim Curry. Maybe he should play multiple characters.

Yuri rises to power within the Soviet Union. He then launches a psychic attack on the Allies, gaining control of most of their leaders. Suddenly, without warning, a shadow army comes out of nowhere, demolishing Yuri's primary psychic weapons - and, unfortunately, killing the mind-controlled Allied leaders. The leader of this faction is a former adviser to Stalin known only as... Kane. Tanya becomes de facto leader of the allies.

Near the end, Yuri seizes control of the Psionic Decimator, planning to wipe out most of the world's population. Kane and Tanya form an alliance to capture the Soviet time machine, go back in time, and kill Yuri before he can emerge. Cleverly, Kane also eliminates Alexander Romanov. The events of Red Alert 2 and 3 are written out of history. Einstein is restored. Kane disappears.

One side effect of the time reversion is to attract the attention of the Scrin, who send a Tiberium meteorite to Earth, landing in Rome in 1995...

And the entire Command & Conquer series is revealed to be a Stable Time Loop.

I was just thinking about this the other day lol! How about some more live action cut scenes which do more than just mission briefings.
