See more of the 1st and 2nd generation Pokemon, all my favourites are in them.

Throw in a hard mode, they're all so fucking easy! In the hard mode, TMs run out and not everything will be as easy to obtain.

Side quests? Or did they already have them?

Real time combat would be awesome. Of course, then they'd have the make it a 3D game which if they put the TIME AND EFFORT IN they could do, well. Not like Battle Revolution or anything when they all just look like lumps of concrete mixed with an enemy from FFVII.

First Pokemon in the party follows. I loved this little feature - not sure why they got rid of it in Gen V.

Ability to travel to every region. If they made a MASSIVE Pokemon game in which you could choose which of the five regions you initially started in...then when you conquered them you moved to another, with new Pokemon....so good. Kind of like then did in Gold/Silver/Crystal when you could travel to Kanto (albeit that always felt like a kind of half-hearted addition as all there really was to do was the gym leaders). The only problem is once you've done one Elite Four your Pokemon are probably around level 50/60...so maybe it's mandatory - somehow - that you start with an entire new party or something? Figure it out, Nintendo...
I had the same idea when i picked up PKM white and realised how it had better gameplay, but soulsilver had a better story qand longer playtime because you could go through two regions, if you could pick which region you start out at and what avatar you have, i would pay $50 for that

1) more engaging story (apparently Black and White got a bit better)
It did, a bit. Its completely ridiculous but hey, tis about as good as you can really expect from a game that is still marketed to young kids.

I'd like to see some more interesting regions than generic desert, urban, grassland, woods etc. I think everthing else has been said a dozen or so times. Perhaps more different forms? I don't think theres been a Nidoking/Nidoqueen type pokemon set for ages.

More openness, pokemon only ever gave the illusion of a wide world, in reality it was as corridorred and railroading as doom. With all the areas that are blocked and you only get into the next area when you perform a certain action.

I would love to see all the stats and move damage reduced, so you only raise your pokemons hp, defence etc. a tiny bit per level, and so the real advantages are in your move base. It would mean that a caterpie half your level would still be a threat, as the hp difference between a lvl 5 and lvl 40 pokemon would only be about 20 hp, and the main advantage you would have would be more powerful moves. This would make breeding much more valuable.

Also an overhaul of the leveling system so less grinding is needed.

Fight back against hackers - This means no asking for ridiculous trades on GTS and stronger protection online against hackers. It will never be perfect, but if GTS gets fixed and hacked Pokemon can only be as strong as legits, then it is fine.
most organised gaming comunities allow hacked or sav'ed pokemon to be used, as long as the pokemon in question doesn't do anyhting that is theoreticaly impossible. so as long as it could be created legitimately it's allowed in their tournaments etc. this actually creates quite a comptitive meta game environment.

what i'd like to see is a more open trading and matchmaking system, and better implemented online features. seriously the dream world can only be used in japan? how can it be so difficult to make it work right?

also less retarded pokemon. i mean seriously, a bin bag and an icecream cone? had they run out of ideas and started looking out the window for stuff they could use? we're lucky their office wasn't opposite an "adult store"

So you'd rather get a Pokemon then stay at home baking bread?
There is pretty much no other way to start it, except in medias res I suppose, but I really don't think that would work.
Er, no, making bread sounds pretty boring...

I am, however, utterly floored by your comment stating "there is pretty much no other way to start it." Really? Given all the plots of all the rpgs and other genres ever composed, no one can think of a single plot that doesn't involve "young trainer chooses pokemon and goes off to become best trainer in the world?" Maybe I just don't get it, maybe you CAN'T change that basic foundation, but I have a hard time believing that.

EDIT: Ok, people put up with the same plot over and over again in a bunch of games, most obviously Super Mario games, but still. Pokemon is an RPG. You could literally tell ANY story with it.
Wouldn't a Pokemon game where you start off as ruler of a small kingdom and are cast out be interesting? Or you're shipwrecked and a pokemon befriends you? Or you come from our world and have never even heard of pokemon, or at least never seen a real one? I mean, come ooooooooon, recycling the same story with some revisions over and over is not particularly creative. People wouldn't put up with that from any other game that I can think of.

I'm not knocking Pokemon, but the question was "what do you want to see blah blah" and that's what I want to see. A different fucking story. With Pokemon. I'm sick of trying to be the best trainer, I want some other purpose.

The setting being more mature and coherent.
Less "pink kiddie glove" with everything in the setting.
Less mindless grinding.
PKs with character rather than PKs being nothing but a box of numbers.
Big bad evil guys who arent complete morons (and with motivations and goals that makes sense.. no need for legendary god-like PKs to get your goals or to destroy the world).
Combat being action oriented rather than turn-based (like the tales series combat system, maybe)

.. and yes im dreaming. It isnt very likely to happen imho.

This. :D

Also I'd LOVE it if you could stop a pokemon's evolution but still get the power of the evolved pokemon. Most of the time I love how the unevolved pokemon looks but then he gets butt ugly when he evolves. But you have to evolve him to be useful in combat. Can't we have both cute and powerful? Why do we have to choose one of the other?
In some cases, the pre-evolution can be more useful.
As a special wall, chansey is better than blissey at the moment.

Super Smash Bros: Pokemon Edition.

Seriously, there are 6 pokemon in Brawl already, and they have the switching mechanism down pat. It could be super fun if done right. Might take a bit of time to make all the pokemon and moves but it could be done.

One with all the starters available.
It always bothered me that the starters are technically the rarest pokemon in the game. Technically speaking all the legendaries exist in the wild but theres only ever one of each starter and none of them exist anywhere in the wild, usually you have to steal one of them of an old professor

Yeah, it wasn't a real pokémon game to be honest, but it had it's good points.
I really liked the setting (no 10 year olds and magic professors) but wasn't keen on the game play (double battles, you have to 'purify' pokés before they can level up etc.)

personally i would like to see a pokemon game that 'follows' the story of pokemon i use the term follow loosly i basically just mean a game where u start in new bark town (i think thats right) and travel to all the areas that the pokemon seris did (and has any one else noticed that asides from pokemon yellow no other game has bothered to let people go to the orange league)
