That's a bad setup at fault.carlsberg export said:people that leave their mics on whilst playing are a bit annoying.
I leave my mic on all the time, but because I know how to properly set one up, the only thing you'll hear is my voice and only when I have something relevant to say (if not, I simply shut up and focus on playing.) You won't hear echoes, my breathing or any noises from my surroundings (barring very loud noises, of course).
Then again, I went through the effort to ensure smooth communication. Most people won't.
Coincidentally, and back on topic, I'm really annoyed by 'talkers' i.e. players who never stop talking during a game. And I don't mean some banter during slower moments, which I do myself when I'm playing with buddies, but constant blabbering. Mostly about things that have nothing to do with that game. Sure, I can mute them, but that's not alway an option and sometimes there's other players in the game that I do want to hear.
And the things the 'talkers' sometimes talk about! This one time, I encountered two randoms where one was asking the other for advice because his girlfriend was cheating on him and what to do about their kid if the relationship went bust. Are you fucking kidding me? Is a game really the place to talk about pretty serious stuff like that?
A variant of the 'talker' is what I call the 'fan'.
These mostly appear in co-op games, are often young kids unskilled or new at the game and have a tendency to enter a game at a difficulty and/or player level above their own skill. So they get their asses handed to them, which may prompt a helpful and more skilled player to give out some tips. And that's where it starts. They sort of attach themselves to you and turn into a kind of Bizarro Navi: trying desperately to be your friend, constantly trying to attract your attention and acting like spoiled brats if you don't do things their way, except Navi sometimes gave out helpful info.
This may sound petty and it's only a game, but there is a time and place for bombarding me with questions and moments of intense combat are not that time. Focus on your game and when things calm down, I'll happily help you out. Or wait till we're back in the the lobby.
