I play console games from as far back as the NES era though I'm more than willing to play Atari and earlier games if I can get my hands on them. I'd love to get my hands on a Commodore 64 or, an Amiga but I've never played the kinds of games I've seen for those systems.

Anyway, my gaming diet looks a lot like this:

JRPGs
WRPGs
Classic-FPS
Platformer
Rhythm
Spectacle Fighters
3rd-PS
1-v-1 Fighting (this includes MvC series)
Party Fighting
Kart Racing

I'm not sure how to classify games like Arkham City or Deus Ex Human Revolution. The former is a sort of action-puzzler whereas the later is a 1st-person Puzzler WRPG. Like with Deus Ecks HR there is Portal and 2 which are similarly categorized as 1st-person puzzle shooters (though without RPG elements). Fire Emblem, Nintendoland and, Wario Ware are wild cards for me since I don't normally play RTS, Party-Games or, Microgame Collections though I will from-time-to-time. I've beaten Beneath a Steel Sky and have a couple of other point-n-click-Adventures squatting on my Laptop at the moment but I don't think I'm going to mess with them much in the near future.

Really the only games I actively avoid are sports sims like the Madden or Fifa games. Extreme Sports games used to be a big part of my gaming diet when I was younger because of Smackdown and, Tony Hawk. I also really want to see more Mutant League games get put out there.

it would be easier listing the genres that I don't play. Which would be:
Sports/Racing games
JRPGs.

That is it. I play pretty much everything else, and a lot of it,too.

I love Action/Adventure and RPG games, and I especially love a combination of the two. I also enjoy life-sims and any game that manages to genuinely excite me and blow my mind in the process (like Portal, or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney). That last kind is the most fun for me, actually.

I currently just have Nintendo systems (all of them, except the Wii U) and a PS2, but I'm planning to get a PS3 by the end of the year so I can play all of the best games I've missed out on. I'm looking at you, Journey!

Lately I've been playing a lot of isometric action RPGs like the Torchlight series and Titan Quest for a bit until I remembered how grindy it was and a little bit of FPS thrown in for some variety, clearing out some of the ones in my backlog.

Well I am a person that tries almost every genre.

FPS- I like this mostly when they are interesting and fun (so call of duty can count for a reason I play FPS but main one is DUST 514)
Adventure- I love a good game with a story to go with it (reason why I love kingdom hearts and dark cloud)
Puzzle- Every now and then I will play a game that will most likely make me think through out the whole game.

Now I think those are the main ones I play the most but I try to play others, I just don't find the time sometimes. But there are genres I hate, sport games and racing games.

Persona 4 Arena. In which i'm being a hipster who plays Shadow Labrys online. Y'know the character nobody else uses?

Shabrys is ridiculously fun. She has such great voice acting and Asterius has some cheap ass moves :D
I really wish people would follow your lead, I was playing with Yukiko online yesterday for the first time and after about 12 matches I didn't meet a single other Yukiko and fought about 8 Yu's. Of the others, 2 were Chie, 1 was Naoto and 1 was Kanji.

I mean c'mon people have some diversity, I know the games only just come out in Europe but that's ridiculous!

OT: I mainly play JRPGs, fighting games and pretty much any game with a decent story. I used to play a lot of FPS' but I've completely burnt out on them.

I'm fighting a LOT of Naotos today. There was a bunch of different characters yesterday and then 3 Elisabeths in a row and she is really good. Annoyingly good. Naoto and Yu at the moment and not much else

The first and only Labrys i've seen was a super hype Labrys vs Shadow Labrys game. Labrys won because I have no idea what she does apart from having the same axe moves.

RPGs. JRPGs and WRPGs are my main games.

I don't really have a genre that I don't play. Except for rhythm games and fighting games like SF4 and BB.

Looking through my collection I actually have something from every genre apart from JRPSs, MOBAs and the Fifa/NFL type.

The most prevalent type tends to be games with an overarching story and RTS/TBS.

EDIT: Whoop 1000th post!

God, I dunno. A lot. Generally on PC these days, few exceptions. Steam library is just shy of 200 titles, though that may not be a lot compared to some of you avid geeks.

Generally my favorite genre is well done FPS/RPGs and oldschool PC WRPGs. I like TBS and RTT games (Wargame: EE, Company of Heroes, Myth 1 & 2, Civ / 4X strategies), but I just get lost in action-per-minute = success RTS like starcraft.

Alltime favorite titles are Bioshock / System Shock, Fallout 1 2 Tactics 3 NV, Deus Ex 1 HR, Halflife, Tribes 1 2 Ascend, Battlefield(s) 1942 - 3, Doom / Quake 1 2, Elderscrolls 3 - 5, Grand Theft Auto (all ex: mobile games), Company of Heroes, Dawn of War 1 - Dark Crusade, Minecraft, Dungeon Keeper 1 2, Halo 1 & Reach, etc etc...

I dunno, I'm pretty omnivorous. If you give me a game I'll give it a fair shot, but certain types do really turn my crank.

WRPGS is probably my most played and its the genre that originally got me into gaming.

I also play

FPS or TPS
Action-Adventure
MMO's though I'm and on and off player.
Puzzle games
Stealth
Platformers
Occasionally RTS but I suck at them and I rent fighting games to play with friends on occasion but not often.
I would try out more JRPG's but there aren't many for the pc.
I'm currently playing a point and click though I've not played many before this. I might go on a binge and play a whole bunch of old ones.

RPGs would be my most played genre of all. Action, Western, Japanese, you name it. Except Strategy RPGs. I can't get into Strategy games at all, turn based or real time. So count me out on FF Tactics, Fire Emblem, certain Megaten titles, Disgaea. Can't get into any of that.

I love action games, too. I'll also play stealth games.

I typically detest FPS or TPS games, although TPS to a much lesser extent. I won't generally touch any game at all that plays primarily in first person, unless it's really good. Dishonored and Fallout: New Vegas are the only games I own that play in first person(ignoring the fact that FO: NV can be third person).

I also won't touch fighting games like Street Fighter or BlazBlue or anything else of their ilk. Soul Calibur 2/3 are the only fighting games I'll play, willingly.

WRPGs and Action-RPGs are really my thing, to this day Oblivion is probably my favorite game of all time.

Looking through my current game collection, I seem to gravitate toward the following:

Fighters
RPGs (preferably those that let me create or customize my character)
Action/Adventure
FPSs that are not CoD or Battlefield
the occasional sports/racing game

Every other genre either has one or two exceptions that piqued my interest, or there were fucks given at all period (i.e. RTSs).

I love Stealth games like Thief, Deus Ex:HR, Mark of the Ninja and Dishonoured. Anything with a no kill run is very cool. I usually play thief characters in games. I like RPG's and JRPG's a lot and it's probably what I play most of the time. I like platformers and strategy games when I can get them. I play a lot of online co op games and MMORPG's with my best mate.

I tend to avoid military shooters. Just way too boring for me. I like me some Left For Dead 2 and Borderlands 2 though. I don't like Racing games or Sports games I don't see the point. I don't play fighting games much anymore because of how they portray women these days, although Injustice doesn't look too bad.

Developing a love for japanese indie games at the moment.

I've been playing Minecraft, Bioshock, Age of Empires 2 HD, Saints Row 3, Don't Starve, Game Dev Tycoon, Civ Revolutions, Alpha Centuri, Warcraft 1 and Fairway Solitare. Oh I just started Brutal Legend too.

Long live the PC master race.

I mostly plan RPG's, western and Japanese. I also occasionally play puzzle games, adventure games, simulation games, and visual novels (if you consider them games).
