If I'm playing something single player, then I prefer being a mage because I then everything I do looks bright, colorful, but badass. I like to be awe-inspiring you know.

If I'm playing an MMO, I understand that everything counts, so I often do everything I can to maximize my attack speed and critical hit rate.

If I'm playing online, i.e. WoW I go DPS, because my connection isn't good enough to heal/tank. Although if its just on my own, I will go a melee (based around warrior/barbarian) class, because they are much more fun.

I generally pick the non-magic character with a lot of cool skills. Preferably always-active skills. Fast is preferable. I generally turn it into a ranged character with good crits and speed.

What type of RPG?

Single-player rogue-like or dungeon crawl? I go battle-mage since having healing spells but powerful melee makes for a great character to "get through" a game (though it will be inevitably worse later on than a pure class)

Generic "PICK YOUR CLASS" game, I go with Paladin --> Mage/Wizard/Sorceress/etc. and then if all else fails I just pick whatever's there that looks cool at the time.

I've played multiple classes in MMOs, but I feel most at home as a tank because I trust myself with the role and no one else in it...

I generally prefer speed over strength and and brains over brawn, but sometimes I enjoy heading over to the other side.

I enjoy stealth classes, but in games like Fallout I really like the charismatic guy.
nah .. why have charisma when you can have stealth :p
Because I enjoy watching characters be persuaded by my suave remarks.
meh .. i would rather not even let them see me ... the only proof of my existance will be the bad oxygen habit i help their men kick

I like the mixed part-magic, part-warrior types. Cause then i get to be a badass mage that throws fireballs-n-stuff, but I also get decent armor and swords so I'm not squishy in close combat.

Whatever makes people die violently.
It really depends on my mood or state of mind though.

My prefered approach is to go for all out strength and attack. Warrior/Soldier classes are my personal favorites since they are the most simple and (more often than not) the most reliable and effective.

Mainly Defensive, like Paladin or Guardian kind of thing.
Somebody needs to protect someone's ass in a fight, might as well be me.

Well, If it's any indication, I named my last character in Oblivion Robyn Hood.

Yes, I prefer the ranger type, especially in something like WoW. I tend to stay away from my party on the main path, becuase when they're attacked by something, NOTHING is more badass when someone is about to be killed when an arrow comes flying out of the woods into whatevers attacking them's neck.

Mages. Because you trade off unlimited potential at the cost of being about as tough to kill as a banana.
