I really liked Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. I'm just not sure what other urban fantasy games are around, and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I only have a PC, but feel free to recommend console titles so other people can see them.

What do you mean by urban fantasy ? Set in an urban setting ? Does the world end with you count? Because if it does , i recommend that .

Modern setting combined with fantastical elements. Think something like Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, or even (gag) Twilight. Those are examples of urban fantasy. Man I really wish I had a better example on the tip of my tongue than Twilight. Most urban fantasy isn't that bad. Oh wait, Dresden Files. Dresden Files is urban fantasy.

That's a tough one. I can't think of any offhand. The Shadowrun RPG is out in a month, that's...SORT of urban fantasy. More cyberpunk though.

There's The Secret World, if what you mean is what I think you mean. Modern day world with secret magicky stuff going on. I'd say it's pretty fun, but I don't think it quite took off the way they wanted it to.

Oh hells yes, The Secret World is a perfect example. THANK you, Zantos. OP, The Secret World is JUST what you are looking for.

Except the fact it's an MMO. And it's pretty terrible. But it is straight up urban fantasy.

There's earthbound (and the rest of the mother series). They're not gritty, but they're relatively modern (mid 20th century) and hella funny and mother 3 is emotionally investing.

I think your looking for a genre called "psuedo fantasy" - modern day setting mixed with the supernatural/magical/fantasy elements

It's probably one of the least-explored genres out there because most developers believe that people don't want that kind of escapism that's too close to everyday life, or that it's shallowly followed where most games would fall somewhere between zombie apocalypse and urban life simulator. One I can think of that isn't mentioned is The World Ends With You for the DS, which is kinda hard to find given that it's been a while since release and those who have it aren't going to part with it that easily.

Speaking of Square Enix, I guess you could say that FF14 is one too, since the design seems more like stuff they pull out of what they see on city streets instead of completely out of their minds. :x

(Bethesda should jump on this kind of opportunity though)

Infamous would probably fit this definition. Especially the dlc for the second one with vampires (it can be bought without owning Infamous 2)

Persona 3/4? Or any Shin Megami Tensei game really, though as I understand urban fantasy, the Personas are probably closest
