What video game character would you save?

Hmm I'll go with Aeris from FF7 just so I could take advantage of her stupidly over-powered Limit Breaks that pretty much telegraphed her death for anybody who took the time to learn them. Though it could be argued that these were just further proof that she was in fact the most powerful character in the game, certainly at that point anyway. Still I'd bring her back for that sole reason.

Edit:Also I didn't know Father Grigori actually died, I mean I saw him run into the firey graveyard and then I heard him laugh maniacally as he started to kill all of the zombies. And then that was it, I didn't actually see anything happen to him.

I would save Sev from Republic Commando. I was very depressed when he got left behind.

When I first saw him in HL2, though, the first thought that crossed my mind was "Oh- I bet he'll die sometime in the game....."

I would definitely save Gerry Mcreary from GTAIV, sure he was a cold bastard at first but he got to be nice and I was sad when he was put on death row, also I would save the king in Oblivion so that I wouldn't have to do that bullshit main quest

Wow... Can't believe that no one's said this before but Ryan from Bioshock... He had my total respect, though that might just be from my lack of compassion for my fellow man. But seriously... I wanted to see him help you kill "Atlas"/Fontaine and then turn on you. So if not save him, at least postpone his death.

I also somewhat agree that Andrew Ryan didn't really deserve to die. I started feeling sorry for him as I got closer to the showdown with him after he started sending me messages saying "do you know how much determination and will it took to build the impossible and all you do is come here and destroy it?". The guy had a point. His main problem was that he held onto his dream too tightly and corrupted his own morals trying to protect it.
