Haven't thought of one yet, but what video game villain do you think is the most tragic or sympathisable?

Andrew Ryan, from Bioshock.

In the part of the game where he is the villain, he gradually becomes more and more like a victim of fate, as opposed to an evil overlord
Yes, but his attitude of demonizing helping others leaves him somewhat unlikeable to me.

Diablo in Diablo 2, He is just sitting there waiting for some dudes to march in and kick his ass on all difficulties.. Poor Diablo
Or the zombies in the older resident evil games, You're sitting in a closet for who knows how long to scare someone and the second you jump out you get shot in the head

The Warrior, from Prince of Persia. He bsold his soul to the devil for the power to save his people, who then shun him after he does so, I think...

The game was still balls though.

Linda the lungfish from psychonauts. She was tortured and twisted towards evil by coach oleander. For that matter, oleander himself was the victim of a traumatic childhood. Poor bunny....

Dr. Breen. He wants to help and all, but he really just chose the wrong side when he went to the combine.

Alessa Gillespie and Walter Sullivan (my favourite characters) from the Silent Hill series, though I never think of them as villains, just unfortunate antagonists.

The paddle in pong.

What? I'm serious!

Alright alright, i'd probably say Arthas from Warcraft 3.
He was just trying to do what was right for his people then BAM, fused with the Lich King. Now they all want to kill him because MAYBE he killed a few hundred billion people and made them zombies.

Strelok in STALKER: Clear Sky.
because we know what happens in SoC, don't we?

Dagoth Ur in Morrowind. After how dickishly the tribunal behaved to him, it seems resonable that he wants revenge.

And
Ashur/Werner
in Fallout 3's The Pitt
(Has to be my favourite of all the Mini-Expansions. They're not DLC, I didn't download them, DLC sounds retarded.)
