Recently ive discovered the various soundtracks of Advance wars: days of ruin. I only played the original advance wars so far and I was BLOWN AWAY by the awesomeness of almost all of the CO themes in this game.

Especially Waylon, Tabitha and Gage

Age of Empires 2. It's aged extremely well, sounds wonderful.

StarCraft also has a great soundtrack (just about the only great thing in the game, in my opinion).

Wait... nobody has mentioned the katamari games yet? Have you guys PLAYED them? At all? Man, the start song for katamari damacy... the start and endings for we <3 katamari... wow. You guys have no idea.

That said, i like 'Still alive' from portal more than any other videogame song ever. I mean that. And i can name countless single tracks that I've had stuck in my head from time to time, song well known, some obscure. Silent hill 2 was so moody, the end song from mass effect, the start song and shopping song for atelier iris.

Oh and god how could i forget: THE SIMS. Hell yeah. Elevator music FTW! Bum-bum-bum-bum bum-bum-bum-bum

Banjo Kazooie, it really got me bobbing my head and waggling my tongue to the banjo in most of the levels.
Click Clock Woods and Freeze-easy Peak were my favorite songs in that game.

There are many contenders for me. It's hard to say which ones I prefer, but this is a list of the best music I can think of.

Oblivion's soundtrack is brilliant even if you haven't played the game. I listen to it all the time, it's such an enchanting musical score. There's something about Oblivion. It's such a big world, with so few people in it. The music seems to bring that across on its own, without the need to play the game.

Mass Effect has another brilliant soundtrack - almost taken directly from Blade Runner, it adds so much to the incredible 80's sci-fi feel of the game. I think Mass Effect has the same sort of abandoned atmosphere as Oblivion, it's a big gameworld to explore, but there are few people to meet inside it. It's an almost meloncholy feeling of the absolute beauty of the places you find, and the complete lack of people to be there with you.

Mega Man 9 is another strong soundtrack - it isn't easy to make an 8-bit game sound good, but Mega Man 9's songs are memorable and brilliant to listen to. Plus, it's just plain awesome. When you're playing Plug Man's stage, it's hard not to crack a smile just listening to the music.

Halo also featured good music. So did Half-Life 2, all of Rare's games and all of the Oddworld games. I can't decide. I'll go ahead and say Oblivion though, since that was my first choice (and paragraph).

I love going through Grunty's castle and hearing the music change as you go into different areas.

I think that Fallout 3 had one of the most fitting sound tracks, and I do keep singing to I Dont Want To Set World on Fire

If we're talking most iconic soundtrack, it would have to be Mario. I mean, who doesn't know the Mario theme?

Best OST: I'm gonna say Knights of the Old Republic, just because I'm a sucker for Star Wars music.

Best compilation soundtrack: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. That game had an awesome set of tracks (such a shame the official CD of it barely had any of them on)

Listened to the Crisis Core soundtrack recently and wow, one of the most solid pieces of work I've heard in a while. Just some pure kick ass and some good emotional themes. I love rocking out to SOLDIER battle and Face of Lost Pride, those are themes to kick ass to.
