what was a decent or bad game's only strong point?

I was playing fable 3 and while I like the game, it isn't really all that good. The story is alright the gameplay is way to simple and easy, but the music and voice acting, amazing. It is almost worth playing the game just for that alone, now hopefully Lionhead goes back to its roots with fable, with a few new changes, but keep the music going strong.

So escapist what are some games that over all were just, meh but had one really strong point.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope, bad voice acting, bad characters, meh story, but the combat was great. Kept me playing through the entire game, even went back and played a lot of the arena.

IMO, and related to yours, the original Fable. Made TOTALLY AWESOME by the fact that if you were good enough, you could decapitate people with arrows.

Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines was also made a whole lot better by the fact that I played as a completely batshit insane cheerleader and went through the entire game with my only weapon being a baseball bat.

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter

...it's a part of the BoF series, but even then that game was an abomination in my eyes.

Wild Arms 4,the hex combat system was pretty fun albeit broken.

Games from Spark, namely "Turning Point: Fall of Liberty" and "Legendary", are usually considered mediocre. Well, I quite like them. Sure, they're unpolished shooters with crap graphics, but the original settings and premises make up for that.

Well, Deadly Premonition had mediocre faults and terrible graphics, but the amazing story more than made up for it's other faults. It is kind of sad that the gameplay and graphics were as terrible as they were. If they were on par with a AAA (or even a AA or just A title), it could have took the world by storm. As it is, it will forever remain an oft-overlooked cult classic. Oh well...
