Great Plot, Great Narrative, Great Special Effects, Excellent Acting, Characters you care about, wrapped in one excellent cinematic package. It's a fascinating tale you're damn sure you will NEVER forget.

it made an ultra-violent action movie with a great plot and excellent acting on a budget of 25 million $
This. Although I expected a Rambo IV-heavy action movie, I got an intelligent, competent drama with an action bit.

The only thing I did not like was the absence of closure. Other than that, SONIC WAVE WEAPON!

I wasn't really that violent, at least in my opinion. It was incredibly hard to watch the first half of it though. I just hated people so much [more than normal] during the first half...

It had great action, wasn't over the top, but most importantly, it just had a plain good story. Simple as that. None of that superhero save-the-world/girl crap. Not the usual good vs evil BS. No, social commentary that, while often seen in other scifi media, rarely comes off well in movies (because directors want people with lonely braincells to enjoy a movie too as they bring in the most cash, so let's make Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk not too complicated).

I liked that the alien was called Christopher Johnson, and that they sought after Dog food. I also found it hilarious that aliens in need of aid would go to look for it over South Africa.

That *is* rather the idea. Wikus is a dick, and this needs to be established early so that the character has some room to grow.

The fact that you think Iron Man was a better movie confuses me a tad, but that's your opinion.

I thought it was good, not anything great though. The acting was great IMO, and I liked the social commentary which I actually related to for once. I kinda wish they hadn't let the end give away to a lot of action, as it got quite over the top towards the end.

I liked it, I thought that it was an enjoyable action movie with great characters and an interesting story. The special effects were awesome and the fact that they did it on a 25 million dollar budget (That's not a lot by big movie standards) amazes me.

I thought it was a great flick for the summer drought and that it was perhaps one of the better Sci-Fi films I've seen in the last 5 years.

Meh. It was an okay movie. It was far from great but, it wasn't terrible. It was just incredibly average.

It's a great movie, with good action, and great acting. The guy who plays the main character is really good. Apparently, all his dialogue were improvised on set.

there is no point in trying to tell someone why a movie is good when they already made up their mind.

*leaves thread*

I think that if I have, make it plain as to how, then I shall apologise.

Could be taken the wrong way, don't you think? I probably overreacted, but that was the spark which lit the fire.
