As the title sugest's I'm intrested in finding out awe-inspiring games and why they had that effect.

E.G:popolus The Beggining,I know it was an old game (so old I wont bother using spoiler alerts) but the first time I used the armmagadon spell and everything really did go to hell I just sat back afterward and was just wowed out of my mind.

so I ask you did you ever have something like this

Tetris.
I never realized how fun simplicity could be.
It's still one of my favorite games.

Half Life probably. It has one of the most brilliant introductions to a game I have ever experienced (still) and you spent the whole game feeling like you were lucky to still be alive.

Unlike most modern games where you feel like bloody Hercules, laughing your ass off while blowing up the puny aliens. Which gets even more ridiculous when your AI companions or mandatory "guide" (Cortana, Anya, Atlas etc.) tell you how much trouble you are in despite the fact you are kicking more ass than an ass kicking robot.

First game ever?

Fallout. I was totally struck by how much freedom you had. All the games I'd played before were good but linear. However, Fallout, though it might even seem restrictive now, seemed like ultimate freedom to me.

I loved it to bits, and still do.
I wish I did. I really wanted to like it but couldn't get over how frustrating I found some parts of the game-play.

It probably doesn't help that I learnt everything due to trial and error and it's one of the only games that I have ever played that I can honestly say that I am not good at.

Armored Core 1<

I dropped my jaw of the shear sight of the customization options to build your own mech. You could even create your own emblem from scratch (and i mean REALLY from scratch).
It was challenging and fun to put together a mech, and designing an emblem. After 2-3 hours i noticed that i hadn't even touched the gameplay mechanics, i was just having fun customizing and designing, something i never would've expected from myself.

I'd say Gothic I, I enjoyed the freedom it gave you, the way people were getting on with their daily routines and I liked the fact that it really made you work to get the items you want not just hand them over to you. And last but not least, the story. I also liked Gothic II, the last one, Gothic III, left me a bit disappointed.

Pokémon Blue, i was used to game alone, or with select friends.
But when i brought my Gameboy to school, man....it became a Poké battlefield.
Loved it, even the seriously annoying Link Cable.

first time i saw hyrule field in ocarina of time...
(though, i hadnt exactly seen many awe inspiring games at that point)

Ocarina of Time was the first game that totally took me by surprise as to just how good it looked, how well 3D was done. It's still one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. Exiting Oblivion's sewer tunnel had the same effect, years later.

I don't know which was the first but God of War definitely hit me the hardest. The king of QTEs, it was just so awesome and epic. How many games start with you killing a beast of legend to then watch a God stomping on a city?

Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past

First game I ever played and one of the biggest wow factors.

That is until I played MGS2...wow.

Probably the first game ever i played. Because it was new experience and pretty rare in my country back in the days.
From the latter.. tough pick between Fallout, Planescape and first X-COM.

Probably Sonic for the sega mega drive, since that was the first game I ever played. However failing that, probably MGS 1, I liked being stealthy in a game
