Knights of the Old Republic
I thought the plot twist was EPIC! Completely mind-blowingly AWESOME! After the plot twist I just had to call my friend(who had already beaten the game and refused to tell me what happened until I had beaten it) and make random guffaws of the awesomeness of the game.
I was just coming back to mention this game...I def. agree

Tales of Symphonia

I grew up in the bottom corner of victoria in the mornington peninsula. I got a VERY mainstream experience with gaming, and i was bored by nearly every single JRPG i played because of its combat system and i remember being annoyed by the average plots and stories in other games

When my friend offered if i wanted to play it i declined and said, fuck that shit. Then it was the only option left so i tryed it. I remember getting instantly sucked in by its awesome real time combat and nicely built characters, before being slammed into its plot.

I REALLY loved how it even managed to pull the twists on me, until then, every time a media form (Movie, Series, Game etc.) when a character was "chosen" it usually ment sacrafice and they died, when i first went to the Tower and [SPOILER ALERT] They found out she was gonna be sacraficed and went after her, i went, oh well lets watch her die, and expected this to be then end battle before something bad happens that he stops and she dies

Then BAM, Lloyd goes COMPLETELY against everyone, putting Collete's life before the worlds regeneration, and then when he finds out about the other world, he goes to say he will merge the two worlds together and completely stop anyone from needing to be sacraficed and stopping the fight over mana. He then ends up fighting nearly every single thing that makes for a evil corporation, like the pope, the desians and the renegades, and in the end takes on some demi-god like half elf race that threatened to destroy them

Never saw anything like it before, and it completely blew me away. Also i played the entire game co-op 2 player with a friend. Thats why the Tales of series is my favourite.

Star Fox 64

I remember when I first witnessed it and played it at my cousin's house. Never before had I played something so fluid, so mind blowing, So. Damn. Fun. It was the first game I ever was truly addicted to, and one of the first I ever considered excellent.

I still have my copy too, although I haven't played it in quite a while. Makes me wonder if I should break out my N64 again sometime soon.

Growing up with FPS like Catacombs Wolfenstein and Doom in the 90's everything started to look the same until I saw Half-Life.

I still remember the first time I played HL and basically shat myself with excitement.
Thinking back, the original Quake had a similarly disastrous effect on my digestive tract...

The answer is always yes. always.
