What was the last game you felt completely immersed in?

Since we both know that there is a difference between compulsion and immersion then we both know that any remarks made towards people who don't seem to be grasping the difference do not apply to us. So, there's no reason to feel offended. Unless you doubt your own knowledge though I couldn't begin to understand why.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood

Assassins Creed is wonderful to get immersed in. The cities, people, freedom. The characters are good and the story isinteresting. I can walk around a city just for the walk and get immersed.

I need to take regular breaks so I don't lose track of time and find it's 3am.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent. You just feel so... helpless, playing as the character, and it does an excellent job of making you forget you're at a computer screen.

Alternatively, Battlefield: Bad Company 2. This is a weird one, but the whole squad thing online makes me really care about my team amidst all the chaos. I've had moments of priceless teamwork where I just want to give my teammates a high five for cooperating so nicely, but the I remember... it's just a game.

Fine. You want to be insulting then be insulting. I was trying to relate a problem I was seeing to you as an equal. Sure, what I said would sound condescending if I had directed at anyone in particular. I was simply noting that there were people posting things that sounded more like compulsion rather than actual immersion and I wanted to ask you if you felt that immersion while playing those Bioware games as well. Then, I used the question as a jumping point for an observation and then an explanation of my own opinion.

So, I'm sorry if I offended you. Maybe if you read my postings in a way that contains less venomous intent and more simple curiosity, then you wouldn't feel so offended.

For the record, my verbal communication is fine. At least I don't pick fights over the internet. Again, i'm sorry if you took all that personally.

Have to say (going old school!) had to play my SNES when I found it, and that it still worked, but 7th Saga pulled me in and made me play it... even though I kept getting my ass kicked by other NPC's
