I'm like a couple people here. My taste in games and game ideas are pretty firmly cemented at this point, and I tend to do my research, so I rarely if ever purchase games that I'm not sure about. Except for this one recent one.
Rune Factory 4.
I knew next to nothing about this game or the series it came from. All I knew was that it was a JRPG and whose core gameplay is heavily inspired by Harvest Moon (in fact, I think it's a spin-off.). I like Harvest Moon alright, but I tend to get bored by it really quickly when the activities wear thin. As well, finding the right JRPG is a venture in and of itself, since as much as I adore them, they tend to be hit-or-miss. There was little to no info on the damn thing and it cost 40 bucks. I spent about 3 months hovering over it in the E-Shop until I finally buckled down and purchased it. Was it worth it?
I bought the game 10 months ago. I only recently managed to put it down a month and a half ago... and I still play it every now and then. Great game. Great purchase.
