I'm a huge movie buff and I love it when a movie is able to keep me on my toes, ready to scream like a little girl the second something bad rears its ugly head.

Without a doubt, Aliens, and Paranormal Activity effectively destroyed my nerves when I first watched them.

The Notebook. Will they see each other again/still love each other/she take him back et cetera. Awesome film.

/sarcasm (except it is surprisingly good).

Aliens is a good choice. However, I'd like to go with Death Race. Why? Well, let's see. Gritty prison-localed kill-everyone-else-to-live race featuring a number of psychos and our hero - who is impersonating a popular dead psycho - in the closest thing we will ever see to "Twisted Metal: The Movie.".

Not sure if it counts, when you say "keep me on my toes, ready to scream like a little girl the second something bad rears its ugly head.", but Saving Private Ryan.

When it got to a fight sequence, it did them well

Yeah that movie totally took me by surprise I was expecting it too be mediocre but it ruled. Also it's a very dark Twisted Metal movie if any thing.

Ong Bak 2 and I Haven't even seen it yet. Paranormal Activity was really good at suspense. I was edge-of-my-seat through most of the last half of it.

No Country for Old Men wasn't necessarily jumpy, but it kept me more enthralled than any other movie I've ever seen. Honestly, that movie consistently amazes me.

This is gonna blow your socks off, but Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium for me. Initially, I had touted it as a kiddie title, something that I shouldn't even bother seeing. But it came recommended enough times that I actually watched it, and, let me tell you, I was absolutely riveted. Watching it made me realize that there are films that don't have a romantic sub-plot, that have amazingly lovable characters (which includes the store itself), and that can be absolutely astounding. Not since in cinema have I seen a movie that genuinely had me on nerve during the movie.

I don't watch many horror movies and such, but Paranormal Activity did scare the crap out of me when I watched and had me on edge for majority of the movie.

But the most intense movie I have ever seen was probably The Dark Knight in cinemas, such an amazing experience it was.

As far as overall films go, I thought Children Of Men was pretty intense. I had shaky knees when leaving the cinema after that one.

French film Hidden tops the list for the most intense single scene ever in a movie, although the movie as a whole isn't that great.

Hmm, District Nine was quite intense at many points, as is the more recent Avatar (though not so much).

Maybe LOTR but if you haven't seen that by now I doubt you'd describe yourself as a huge movie buff :p

Note I only had a couple seconds thought on that one, Children of Men reminded me that I should think better about topics like this, I totally agree with that.

The Ring (both the English & Japanese versions) ruined me for days. Also, I watched IT at a pretty young age and had to bite my hand almost throughout the entire movie to keep from screaming. I'm not sure if it was because the movie was so intense, or because I was 9 years old.

@lostclause - Now that you mention it, yeah, District Nine was super intense.
