Working in an 'activity centre'. They ruined a beautiful park to make it. Felt like torching the place. Paid badly and mistreated the staff.

Well, first job that I got taxed for...I worked at a video/fan paraphernalia store called Suncoast Movie Company. My job boiled down to helping people on the sales floor, stock, and telling people over and over that we don't sell video games or games systems.

"No ma'am, this isn't Game Stop, that's across the way. Though I wouldn't actually shop there. It's a rip-off." Every day I had to point stupid people in the right direction.

I worked behind a bar for a few weeks before starting uni. First day I got splattered with Bacardi when a co-worker knocked a bottle off the optic - how she did it still mystifies me.

I FUCKING HATE BACARDI.

The job also taught me that when you're sober, drunk people are either unintentionally funny or pricks.

My first job--I worked at a computer tech shop. A small, local shop and, to this day that was one of the best jobs I ever had. I learned about computers and I got a lot of awesome free stuff.

First job I ever had was at a Fish and Chips shop, it lasted 6 hours because the boss was a dick and I got pissed off at him, and told him to go fuck himself. First completely official job was working at the Internet Cafe i'm working at now. I've left here 3 times already, but keep coming back when my other jobs fall through.

My first (and only) job was working behind the till (and occasionally the store room) at a petrol station. I gave it up after two and half months because it was shit. The pay was abysmal, my boss horrid, and the working conditions atrocious.

My first job was scaring tourists and generally acting the fool at the York Dungeons in.. erm... York. It was great. I learned that bleached blonde girls are the most fun to pick on because they love the attension and therefore provide most entertainment for the others. I lost my voice pretty much the whole time I worked there and it was minimum wage but seriously, when your job includes waving an axe around and making little girls cry, the money is almost a bonus. I couldn't believe I was supposed to be insulting the customers: "This way baldy, into the torture chamber."

Then I was a Hospital porter, which was weird becuase it was a complete reversal of roles. My job went from being a nasty, rude, leering freak to being the friendly, caring and comforting guy who takes you into surgery. It was so tempting to lean into somebody's ear just as they go into the anesthetic room and say "Oh, he's not technically a real docter. Butcher by trade. But he's so... eager!"

I got a job at a local dry cleaners for a few months.......and I never want to sit behind a cash register ever again.

Until that point, I had never truly understood how stupid, impatient, and occasionally creepy that people could be.

The paper root from hell. A creepy lady thought me and my mother were two young girls and offered us cookies... and yes, she was wrong about me being a girl...

Worked at the shoe department at an Ames. I got an Ames employee discount but technically worked for J.Baker who were contracted by Ames to run the department. Hated it and quit because the place had a worthless Air Conditioner that made it slightly cooler than an oven and it was my first job so I didn't much care for it.
