I thought the way they characterised him was too brash. He felt far too irritating to be the darker side of Sherlock that he usually is portrayed as being. Key word there is "usually" though - you're right in saying it was a different take, but it wasn't necessarily refreshing in my opinion.SckizoBoy said:That... BTW what did you find wrong with Moriarty? I found him oddly refreshing a take on the old nemesis...EscapeGoat said:Sherlock

Yah, knew that, and it amuses me immensely. That, and the following:FireAza said:Here's something else to blow your mind. You know how Konata cosplays as Haruhi at her job and does the Hare Hare Yukai dance from the ending credits to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? Well, Konata and Haruhi are both played by the same personI believe that's true of the English dub as well.
Fair enough, though with only three episodes, it'd been rather forced to introduce him directly except at the end of the season, which I thought was well done (by the scriptwriters). I always thought that previous incarnations of Moriarty were a tad formulaic while this one (which I dubbed 'refreshing') gave enough room for characterisation to be absolutely mad. And I don't know about you, but I thought that he was portrayed as being quite gloriously sadistic.EscapeGoat said:I thought the way they characterised him was too brash. I also didn't like the fact that he didn't feel like he had any connection to the crimes he was said to have been behind. He just sort of showed up and gloated. I don't know, maybe that was the point, but I'd have liked to have seen him as, essentially, Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock but a villain, more like how he tends to be portrayed.
Bear in mind, I haven't seen the second season yet, so perhaps his character has improved or changed.
If you like The Wire, you should like Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad has a faster pace (not too fast though), but is almost as brutal to its characters as The Wire was. The writing and acting are top-notch as well.BloatedGuppy said:The Wire. It's my show of the year EVERY year.
Seriously though, I'll have to go with Mad Men, with an HM for Community. With the caveat that I haven't seen Breaking Bad.
Worst show of the year that I actually watched...that'd have to go to Walking Dead. They should changed the name to Squandered Potential.
Oh I do intend to watch Breaking Bad, no worries there. I just want it to finish its run so I can watch it all back to back. I've heard enough praise for it that it's at the top of my must-see list.DustyDrB said:If you like The Wire, you should like Breaking Bad. OT: I love a lot of shows, but it is Breaking Bad. It's no contest really. Since it first aired, I don't there has been a single dud episode. It maintains such a stupidly consistent high quality.
Ohhh, I understand that. I tend to catch shows on Netflix or DVD after they are done and then power straight through them. As a wise man once said, the waiting is the hardest part.BloatedGuppy said:Oh I do intend to watch Breaking Bad, no worries there. I just want it to finish its run so I can watch it all back to back. Thank god I'm not the only person who thought that. I watched three episodes and went "Is this all, really? Comic better not be as bad as this". Took it out of the library next day, loved it. Still do.CODE-D said:Walking dead was a disappointment so...
