Legacy of the Ancients, on Commodore 64. Or maybe it was The Bard's Tale? Yeah, I think I technically got Bard's Tale first, but I didn't care for it as much. A year or so later I got Wasteland (Fallout's grandpa), and that pretty much blew my other C64 games outta the water. Ultima 4 was pretty fun, too.

Final Fantasy 9. It sealed the deal between me and all other RPG's. I love to play them now.
And for me, its still the best Final Fantasy.

Not quite sure wether I was first introduced to Pokemon or Final Fantasy IX. Either way neither of those were really mine (both belonged to a friend of mine who let me have them for a weekend) so I dunno if they count anyways.
But the first one I bought for myself was Pokemon Yellow.

...Quest 64. Yeah, I know.

Actually, me and my friend never got past the first boss, because we didn't really get what we were supposed to do. Back then, if we were presented with large (well, rather short by today's standards, but whatever) amounts of english text, we'd just skip it (English isn't my first language). The way things worked in RPGs was apparently hard to grasp for kids who were used to games about jumping on bad people to save the princess/nice woodland creatures and such stuff. We got through Zelda: Ocarina of time just fine, though... I think we were a bit older when we played that.
