ive just dug out AoE III and i forgot how amazing it was, and then i remembered that AoE II was much better than that. they really need to make a new one in the similar setting to AOE II but you can also take over a building rather than just destroying it

i remember how awesome it was arming up the trebuchets and raining down pain for a far distance, using a sheep to spy on the enemy, or garrisoning a bunch of archers into a tower, putting some knights into battering rams and then let them jump out and surprise the enemy.

what do you guys think, do we need a new improved AoE?

Kind of hard to make a new one when the studio who made them was shut down =/ Unless someone else starts it up again

Which one had the Vikings who's special unit had health regeneration? My roommate introduced me to the game my freshman year of college and I was always the Saracens (who had unlimited amounts of Ali Baba swords stuffed into their camels' humps) and he was always the Vikings. He always just made 1000000000000000000000000000000 health regenerating fuckers who stomped all over me.

Age of Mythology deserves a sequel too.

Also thanks for reminding me I need to pick up AOEIII sometime...

its good but i still prefer II,

i suppose it down to personal preference but i think there is alot less variety of units in III and i prefer the castle era rather than the colonial era

That'll be AOE 2.

I agree. Though I fear it'll end up being really really shit.

There is an AoE RTSMMO coming out next year.

AoEIII is what got me into RTS games online, so I'd like to see how this one pans out.

Here, have a trailer. At least give it a chance before you're disappointed. :p

I prefer the Total War series to other RTS's. I haven't gotten Napoleon yet, but can't wait for Shogun 2

I wouldn't judge it based on the graphics. It's very faithful to the classic Age of Empires gameplay. It's also NDA'd last I checked, so you'll just have to apply for the beta to find out more.

i like how its persistant, it might be good if they can keep it true to the original and allow you to invade random peoples empires in PVP and take-over.

problem i can see is that you need a live account, i dont really want to be paying for a live account

Too bad AOE will never come back, since the developers have thrown in the towel. Besides, even though I loved all the AOE, GB and AOM games, they lacked luster in my eyes. They had no personality. I think it's best to let sleeping dogs so on and so forth.

I hope that the final version doesn't require that you have an XBox Live account. It looks really cool but me, and almost all my friends, don't have 360s.

However, a traditional AOE sequel would be just as awesome.
