Whatever quiet weapon is on hand (melee), and there is no such thing as a silencer, its call a suppressor, it also costs 2000 USD just to have a license for One suppressor in the US, and on top of that you can get 20 years in jail for having one without a license.

I'm going to have to go with Max Brooks on this... simple rifle and a shaolin spade.

For items I already own, I would be going with my two katanas and flanged mace...

Hustle up 299 mates, kit each of us out with an aspis with a lambda on it, xyston, xiphos (or kopis, though I'd prefer a falcata), Corinthian helmet and panoply. Glorious last stand time.

Well seeing as I don't own a firearm (plan on eventually though), I'm pretty much limited to melee only. I've got some katanas, kukuri knives, and other pointy things so I'm pretty good in that regard.
Sorry if you got me wrong here. This is not for kids that own guns only. I dont own AK myself. Its not even legal where i live( thank god! cos some ppl cant behave aroud here). Theres enough probl ems with non-lethal weapons around here(rubber bullet isnt lethal, but if u shoot somebody 10 times in the head that´ll do the job.

A crossbow as I know how to use them and for melee I would probably take a shorter type of sword like a wakisashi. Maybe some kind of spear too for semi-longranged attacks for when I eventually run out of arrows.

I'd say, any decent powered handgun for ranged.

For melee, if we're talking shufflers, any well made blunt object (like a bokken) for pushing zombies over (my on the move tactic). As its been said, a morning star would be pretty damn effective on zombies if i was gonna take them out.

M4 or L85A2 and broadsword. I would say gladius, but according to some historian it wasn't designed to be used by one man, it only worked when like 400 men all stood in formation.
He'll have meant that Roman Legionaries were trained to use it in groups. Think about it, how wouldn't that sword work in close combat with zombies?

OT: Things I have? Okay, well my gun would be a double barrel shotgun, I have around four boxes of cartridges, about twenty five per box. Considering I live in a country village I should be fine. As for a melee weapon, I'll take my kukri.

Flamethrower. It may be heavy and I may walk slowly but anything within 250 feet of me is dead so, yeah. Also fire is fun. Really really fun! For a melee weapon I'd choose a crowbar because it is heavy and sturdy (good for bludgeoning zombies) and I can use it to open up crates and locked doors to reach otherwise unobtainable supplies.
That maybe usefull in some situations. I just dont know how flamethouer works is it benzin or some other stuff. If it run with something common than could be usefull for burning zombies from a barricade, but if you are alone in a middle of football stadium than its scene from zombieland for you.

P.S. I just dont think fire affects zombies like in L4D2

Oh I know. I'm just saying I'd like to have some sort of firearm in my zombie defense arsenal, I just don't actually own one. Someday though (just for zombies of course).

The GAU-8 Avenger. I'll find a way to wield it one day... As a secondary, something basic like a samurai sword. An electrified samurai sword.
No, you wont.

You can try this though.

The GE Six Pack, a gatling gun that was designed to be carried around by infantry (Picture is of the helicopter mounted model).

An Avenger, sadly enough, weighs 620 pounds, is 19 feet long, and will probably out right break every bone touching it when fired (Along with a few bones connected to those bones).

Personally, I'd have to go with the good ol' AR-15/M16 and M1911 combo pack on this one.

Sounds like a good strategy at least in countries with no legal guns and when used against smaller groups of zombies. If things are happening romero style slow zombies than you would cut like knife thru butter. This is why I dont like movies with slow zombies. 20 strong men with baseballbats could take on maybe 40 slow zombies at a time. If zombies come in a que than its just limitless score thay can take on.

Take as few risks as possible, and never gather too large of a group of humans. The more people you have with you, the more mouths to feed and the greater chance of one of them doing something stupid to get you killed. A few people would be good though as it can increase your chances of having someone to save your ass from time to time.
Let take this in an other direction. Why is it that soo many ppl are thinking about ZA? Its not about shooting zombies it about who you are, who you could be. Its about building society by your own rules. Mmmm all the girls I could save ohh how gratefull they would be. Its about walking on the street and looking at some people that are on an other level than you and thinking that in some place in some other dimension it would be otherwise.

Soo do you have someone that you would got to save no matter what during the apocalypse? Maybe someone you didnt previously know? Mayby someone you hadnt have a chance with before?

My imagenary plan if EVERYTHING mysticaly goes how I would like is to save all the girls I ever wanted something with. Go to an island with its own sourse of electricity than form a harem and play xbox360 for the rest of my life.

A katana and a recurved bow with plenty of arrows, and maybe a sawed off shot gun for the hairy moments.

If you're facing celtic zombies wielding 1.5m long swords then I'd advise bringing your 400 buddies instead of trying to go one-on-one using what suddenly resembles a toothpick.

Other than that: I'd go for any kind of short sword or axe I could get my hands on, paired with something that'll take 9mm bullets - don't want to spend the entire apocalypse scavenging rare ammo in a country with very tight gun laws.

Fire is the only certain way to kill zombies.

OT: I would choose any normal pistol. One bullet. Kill myself rather than being eaten by zombies alive.
If I had to fight I would probably use a G36 with a scope. Axe for combat. I would like a katan, but I think it's too light to do any damage on undead enemies.

Spear- Don't have to get close, if I'm careful it won't get stuck in an eye socket
Crossbow- Easy to use and reusable ammunition
Sports Equipment- Never understand why survivors don't wear some kind of armor
Car- weapon/escape

I also have a theory that I could use a chair leg or similar item, stick it in the zombie's mouth, angle it upward and push until I pierce his skull, anyone know if this could work?

Edit: I'd also go zombie hunting, if I leave them they'll just keep infecting things
