As in every year, a lot of great games are released and there are a lot of games that don't meet our expectations no matter how low or high we set them.
What were the most dissapointing games of 2009 to you and explain why?
Here are my picks:
ARMA II:
It's a very well made military, tactical action game but it was bogged down by a terrible interface and the game is very buggy which nearly killed the game experiance.
Halo Wars:
Ensemble Studios last games ends with a whimper, the game tries to do to console RTS as the original Halo did for console FPS but it fails miserably. Well the game is not bad {As most people make it out to be} as the game's controls are very well done for a console RTS, the story was decent, the cinematics are stunning, and the missions are well contructed. However the core game mechanics are extremely shallow and unites have serious balance issues, especially in the multiplayer where a fully upgraded Arbiter can destroy a large infantry and strucures by itself.
Lord of the Rings Conquest:
A novel idea that's poorly executed, the combat is clunky and extremely unbalanced.
The Conduit:
A by the numbers and sub-par FPS with dull level design and ugly visuals. It was hyped up as the Wii's first great first-person shooter, like it was going to be Nintendo's answer to Halo but it ended in the assembly line of generic first-person shooters. While the game is that the controls are surprisingly good controls for the Wii, but that's the only thing going for it.
The King of Fighters XII & Tekken 6:
While the fighting is razor sharp as usual in KOF fashion but it has the smallest character roster in the series {No Mai? WTF?!}, lack of any game modes, and sloppy online. Tekken 6 was too much of the same thing, while the fighting is still good the scenerio campaign and online mulitplayer is terrible.
Madworld:
The game was pretty good but the game was too short and wasn't very satisfied by the end. By the time I was pumped out to really enjoy Madworld the game ended.
Tony Hawk Ride:
Played it in a friends house and experianced the sheer horror of the game, even my friend loathed purchasing it. The concept behind the skateboard peripheral is great but the controller works horribly and the game itself is terrible with a lack of game modes and a boatload of bugs.
The Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena:
It's a good game but it's no where near as good as Escape from Butcher Bay. I waited long time for a sequel hoping that it would surpass the original but I was very dissapointed.
