I was in 8th grade and my Spanish teacher had mentioned it, but we just went on normal. Then I had home room and we watched it on the classroom tv. What I remember most though was one of the PE teachers crying because he was scared we were going to war and he would have to go back to active duty. I think seeing him break down scared me the most. The rest of the day we were told to continue as normal, but none of the teachers listened and we all watched news coverage instead.

I was going camping with my parents and we stoped at a gas-station and my mom went in to pay and bought a newspaper from on of those dispensers you put quarters in and came running back to the car yelling "The towers have been blown up!".
We had left our countrey home without listening to the radio and we didn't have TV or a newspaper subscription.

I was only 8 so I didn't understand what was going on until two years later.

(I can't remember how to spell 8)

10th Grade Math class, early morning over the PA. The principal described it as an 'attack' without specifying exactly what was happening, but we all went down to the library to see for ourselves on the TV.

I was sleeping off a late night with my girl, trying to rest up before my shift at work, when I got a call from a now dead woman, hysterically convinced things were not looking too bright for everyone.

I was waking up and just happened to be watching the new that morning. I was 8 at the time so that's all I can remember.

I was just watching some show when it suddenly cut out and it showed the first tower being hit.
At the time I was only 8 so I was just annoyed my show wasn't on anymore.

At the moment the first tower got hit, my dad was driving me to school (which was rare, I usually walked). I first heard about it at around 2pm in French class when a kid bolted into our room saying (this is verbatum): "Turn on the radio, the World Trade Center blew up!". I was glued to CNN for the rest of the day.

I was in second grade 8 years ago. No one told me what happened till i got home, when my mom said that two planes had crashed into the World Trade Center. I simply thought "the two towers were destroyed? Golly, I sure hope/think that everyone got out in time." Little did I know, i was far from the truth.

I was opening my locker just before the start of first class freshman year. I don't really remember anyone freaking out. Certainly people were talking about it, and the tv's were on announcing what was happening, but it seems the people at my school were alot calmer than what most have said, or to my perception they were anyways. What is really weird is my birthday is September 10. Though it wasn't until about noun that I was really fully aware of what had actually transpired.

WALL OF TEXT ALERT!
I was in first grade in the reading Hut The teacher had the radio on quietly so that kids could read and still have some noise it cut in with the Emergency broadcast we then asked her what this meant she didnt say any thing 5 minutes later the Principal called on the Intercom and told us that Parents have been called to pick up there kids I didnt think much of it I thought it was some Holiday that everyone forgot about when my mom picked me up her eyes were red.I wondered why she dropped me off at my Grandparents house where they were watching the new I then asked what this meant since I didnt get an answer out of my teacher they told me that some thing really bad just happened. Then they sent me up to there room to take a nap while they were in the backyard talking I snuck down to watch the TV I was gonna watch Nickelodeon but I couldnt find the remote so I was stuck on the news channel watching all these adults talking about it...I couldnt understand any of it so I went back up stairs and slept...Sorry bout the Big story

I was attempting to watch TV, then my Mom came down and told me to turn on the news.

Shock ensued. But not as much as wathcing the tapes again now and being old enough to process the horror at that kind of event... Much worse than seeing it when I was still little.

I was in school, laughing at all of the people jumping out of the windows.
You can go ahead and call me a bad person, but I found it hilarious.
I didn't understand why everyone was crying and getting all scared.
A building complex in a different state was attacked, and people you most likely didn't know or ever would know died.
My hearts went out to the families, but that's all.

This pretty much sums up how I see 9/11:

I was asleep. My mom woke me up early and dragged me to the living room to watch the news. We weren't sure if it was safe for me to go to school or not (I was in 8th grade). I think I ended up going, but the whole school just watched the news for the entire day.

I was on school camp in the middle of nowhere. Our camp leaders told us war had broken out.

It was weird because we had no contact with our parents and thought a war was raging in the real world, but it wasn't when we got home. /disappointment.
