After seeing how everyone is devastated over the result of Duke Nukem: Forever, I am extremely confused. The very editor of this site, Russ Pitts, made a review listing things that he would like about the new Duke Nukem Game if he was 12. Well. I know he is probably in his 30's or 40's, but 13 years ago, ALOT OF PEOPLE WERE 12-20!!!!

In terms of a Duke Nukem game, Duke Nukem Forever hit a home run. It absolutely focuses on everything the Duke series is about! Why not look at the Duke Nukem Forever and take it for what it is..When the game was finally announced to be coming out no one though that it would have Metal Gear Solid's graphics, or narrative quality.... We were all shocked and amazed at how cool it is that you get to see naked girls and huge alien monsters getting blown up on a football field. Where has all that excitement gone? Old Age?

And to all the young people reviewing the game exactly the same way the pros do it just becuase they hate it, have some integrity and ask yourself if you had fun. Just becuase you parrot a review does not mean some mystical force will have someone give you a job on the escapist.

Good day!

I was expecting COMPETENT shooting mechanics.

Dear god, the aiming was floaty as hell and Duke moved like he was drunk.

For fuck's sake, I've played non-shooters with better shooting mechanics.

I didn't mind the two weapons. Or the EGO bar, even.

But if the (rather lengthy) demo was anything like the final game, I'm glad I moved my pre-order to something else, instead.

The truck bit was terrible, and the little bits of bad platforming weren't helped by the drunk Duke.

And, yes, I did actually like the jokes, though. Then again, I like Jeff Dunham, and apparently am a poor judge of comedy because of it.

Actually, the original RE games had better shooting mechanics, probably.

What, you mean like a Gears of War cover system, and the steretypical squad of wise cracking heroes?? "Shooting Mechanics" have changed over time a lot since the classic duke nukems.

Why are you making up false reasons on why people don't like the game? I'm not even interested in the game, but I know why Duke Nukem fans hate it. It's because in many important ways, it doesn't play like a Duke Nukem game.

So no. They weren't expecting a deep story or complex mechanics. But if that's how you want to argue it so you feel like you're in the right, then go ahead. I'll let them have at you from here.

To be honest, judging by the demos etc. I've seen (I haven't actually played it bear in mind) but it just looks immature. I'm not against less serious games, I just think things like timesplitters does less serious shooting better.

Really? This thread again? For Fucks Sake the game is shit, it is shit for a hundred different reasons posted in hundreds of thousands places all around the web, so I'm not going to go over it all again, but I will make this point.

Then undermines every single one of those things.

I didn't WANT a complex story. All I wanted from the Duke was cheesy one-liners and -wait for it- fun gameplay mechanics! I wanted a game that was a throwback to shooters of the 90s. That is, carrying tons of weapons, no cover combat, no QTEs, medkits, instead of health regen, and all that.

What we got was basically CoD or Halo with some tits thrown in and some one-liners placed into the sound folder.

This kind of thinking is waaay too prevalent on the internet. As Moviebob said about The Expendables in his Piranha 3D review - just because the movie wasn't TRYING to be some kind of masterpiece does that therefore make it immune to any criticism? NO! Of course it doesn't.

Personally, until I heard of everyone complaining about it I was expecting Duke to be able to carry more than two guns and to not heal simply by hiding like a coward. Land of the babes had the best Duke nukem health system in my opinion. basically, doing cool things like hitting on babes and killing aliens gave you health, and I thought they'd do the same thing in DNF, but it seems that they chose to have it just make the healthbar bigger.

From all that I've heard, it doesn't play like a duke nukem game. and the hype Gearbox put into it just really made the fall of a great hero that much worse.

I think people were expecting to be able to hold all weapons and take bullets like a fridge. That's probably why they're disappointed. Also I heard the humor sucked.

And some people hate the new Shooting Mechanics, I myself can't stand regenerative health and find that two weapon is boring. Duke Nukem 3D are one of the few shooters that I like and if they had released DNF that played the same way as DN3D, I would have been satisfied. I am sure that there are a lot of people that had the same hopes for DNF as I.

Refilling the health/ego bar with manly things. I know it's been said, but that was my biggest letdown. Cowardice is unbecoming in one so uber-macho as Duke Nukem.

Tactics and badassery can go hand in hand, even in today's gaming. Duke, meet "Serious" Sam Stone, and get one of your Realdolls to take notes.

I enjoined the demo for it,s humor and it,s story might be written on a piece on toilet paper and might have immature humor but it,s a game STARRING A EGO TRIPPER WITH THE NAME "DUKE NUKEM"
maybe people have been spoiled by "realistic" stuff like COD.
