Go back in time for a bit, imagine sitting back in your 4th grade classroom. Your teacher is teaching you to divide big numbers.(tremors)
Your teacher glances at the clock and says"it looks like it's time for recess"

You are herded out of the classroom and out the door into sheer happiness. Try and remember some of little kid pastimes.

For me it was all about 4 square my later years in elementary school. As a little 1st or 2nd grader it was something different just about every day.

So what did you do during recess as lad or lass?

We had rocks on the playground after they replaced the sticks. So Rock battles, pretending to fight Mortal Kombat style, and 4-square.

Jumping off the playground, doing 'trick' jumps across the monkey bars, trying to move ants to a new area (didn't work well, they don't like small, open, above ground caves made of clay), climbing the cargo nets, playing handball (4 square) and screwing around on the gymnastic equipment they used to have next to the footy oval.

EDIT: Forgot stick fights and rock fights, oh and hiding in the longs grass (4 - 5 foot tall).

Four square was awesome. My group would make type of minigames that the ace could call like pac-man. Although they made a lot of bullshit mingames that were so cheap :p

We'd play tag (gasp) or random sports. But I fondly remember time in the 4th grade where my friends and I would have slo-mo invisible lightsaber battles. Mmm :)

Myself and a couple of guys used to make bean blowguns out of these bean plants that grew in the back of the school. Either that or blow up rocks with huge amounts of gunpowder we got from caps over several months of allowances.

Playing tag, doing handstands, front flips, jumping from high places, pine cone wars, glove guns, racing across the school grounds. You know, typical kid stuff that would put any adult in the hospital.

4 square or tether ball, I was the shit at that game. Oh and I did play some soccer with a couple of people on this pretty decent sized field, was a lot of fun.

At my school there was always a fight over who would get to use the small basketball nets; I rarely got to use them. I played a lot of mini-stick hockey with my little brother (until they got deemed "weapons"), some wall ball, and some ball hockey behind the arts wing. No one ever played football at my school, neither the soccer nor hand-egg varieties.

We Use to play ALOT of Sports Soccer and Basketball was the most popular. Then we also had made up games like BattleTag Which just meant the chance to run into each other the hardest we could to knock them down. You couldn't get up unless someone on your taped you.

Then the Late 90's struck and from Middle School it seemed Recess meant Pokemon Card Battle time, or Yu-Gi-Oh Or whatever the devil card game was out at the time.

Tag, (should be) baseball, 4 square, who could jump off the wall (which never really sounds high, but at my school was like six feet cause the ground went from perfect 180 degree and then sloped to a 69 degree incline).

and of course kickball. the chainlink fence has claimed many a injury over the years before they finally took it down two years after I got out of elementary school and put up a wood one.

Generally sitting in a corner somewhere by myself, probably taking a nap. As you can tell I was very popular.

Just saying, I don't understand "elementary", "recess", or "grades" in that context.

What I did in the playground in infants/juniors, however...

Kisschase, British bulldog, Tag, Footie, Racing cars, Teasing girls, Watching Scraps(Scrap! Scrap! Scrap!), Conkers, Pretending, Writing stories, Being in a gang, Swearing into the juniors, exploring, tree climbing...

Ah, the memories...I was such a little bastard ;)

For the most part I was the loner kid and I just sit by a tree towards the back of the field by myself and grade 4 plus with some friends. But from time to time I would play tag, red rover, and a little handball. I wasn't active until after high school and realized what shit shape I was in :/
