Gaming has only been around-at least serious gaming- since about the 80's (correct me if i'm wrong) which is about 30 years give or a take a few if you count Pong and things like that.

In another 30 years or so, when the rough prediction of Technological Symbiosis may come to fruition, which is the theory that technology will be updated so fast that we cannot keep up with it unless we become part of it, what do you think the Gaming Industry will be like? Permanent virtual reality chambers that puts people into a world sort of like how the movie Surrogates worked? Complete rapturing of the senses?

What do you think will happen when gaming's life will be doubled, Escapists?

EDIT: Captcha= Consider Edixamot XD

I dont think much will change as such there will of course be much better graphics hopefully getting past the uncanny valley stage at last, AI will be hugely improved and we could possibly start to see some proper emergent gameplay. Voice recognition in gaming will be usuable and helpful but as for really big changes like VR or something I think that will take a bit longer than 30 years (hope im wrong though) but we should also have useful motion tracking tech by this time as well.

Oh and connection speeds will be fast enough to finally allow digital distribution to be feasible to almost everyone and achievements and trophys will be scrapped and although people will still complain about games they will actually be seen as a legitimate past time and not just for children.

Like the Matrix. As in: you feel, see, hear, and sense everything in the game, because your brain's hooked up to the machine running it.

Which of course means the end of civilization as we know it. :p
And what will happen when you die in the game? Imagine playing Dead Space. All those horrible ways to die, and having to experience it. Your probably right though about how we will interact with gaming. Although I hope civilization continues.

Imagine a game like manhunt with the matrix technology o_O

It would be terrifying and the daily mail would literally explode.

Since the video game industry isn't even taking full advantage of 7 year old technology, the norm in 2033 will probably be what PC's are capable of in 2020. Were not getting anything close to a matrix in our lifetime, there are still billions to be made selling call of duty 10.

Unified Engines.

Companies have hit the roof in the reasonable limits of how powerful they can make the machines. Between now and then they are gonna work on doing the best with the hardware. Big companies like EA are gonna spend money developing engines for physics (and whatnot) that are going to be as realistic as possible. They will then licence these engines to other companies to make money. This means that start-ups will have a chance not just to rely on a new idea to make their mark, but to have a good-looking, polished piece of work with the 'backing' of billions of dollars and thousands of programmers, which they then alter and add to suit our needs.

Oh, and the Bronies get their shit together, take over Madagascar, rename it Equestria, and get a seat at the UN.
