What will happen in 500yrs/ how will it be in 500yrs?

Clean power sources? Nuclear fusion? Lasers that hurt? Big ass capes as uniform for the military? Giant domes for hourses? I dunhno. That sort of thing. Interplanetary colonization, I suppose.
....Planet Earth will be dead. We will refer to it as Earth-That-Was. We'll have a bunch of planets, and it'll be like this awesome TV show I've seen.

As Helmet says, in 1509 there is no way they could have predicted what our world looked like, so there's really no way to know what the year 2509 will look like. As far as what will happen over the next 500 years? We'll probably see bell bottoms come back into fashion at least once...
My guess is 500 years from now the world will either be a Utopia or a Dystopia. In 500 years, if we haven't figured out all the Earths problems (War, Pollution, Disease, Famine), we'll probalby all be in some kind of Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic wasteland similar to Fallout 3 where our every day life is a constant struggle for survival against the environment, each other and ourselves.
My guess is 500 years from now the world will either be a Utopia or a Dystopia. It's hardly fair for the school to ask what the world will be like in 500 years, but for the purpose of the thread I'm thinking colonys on mars and the moon, and we'll have either solved most of our problems or y'know it's like now but with fancier technology, not that much better though, I don't see it being possibe to improve technology that much, we'll just grind to a halt.
500 years? That seems longer/farther away than most eras to predict.
America wouldn't be in it's big, overpowered position where it can invade dirt poor countries with tanks. (I'm American, and I'm not bashing other Americans, just questioning our military past.) China would have been the most powerful country on Earth, but wouldn't be in 2509. Look at America, it only became a world power in WWI. It's not even a century later, and our economy is going down.
There would have likely been a WoMD attack so big that a large chunk of the world's landmass would be reduced to Fallout 3 type enviroments. Racism would still be around, but it would be very different. In such a time of primitive survival, people would either stick to their own race and help eachother survive, or form new catagories based on hair style, eye color, or anything we can think of. Once conditions got better, society would start becoming civilized again.
Other than that, I can't really think of anything else, due to all the levels of wealth throughout the world. I couldn't say it would return to a level of modern day America with slight downgrades because that's not the current situation around the world. All of this is just speculation, and loose opinions gathered based on current treands. (On a side note, I'm not being racist when I say "people would stick to their own race". I'm saying that it is likely that all races would separate and new racism would begin.)

Hopefully we made some mech-warriors and combat starships, because if the human race is still going by then, we're not doing our jobs very well as warmongers.

we'll live on the moon in bubbles made of a carbon based polymer and drink nothing but iced tea and live off of the energy generated by the under class; a race of mole like people who run on giant hamster wheels for their entire lives to generate power. all cars will be powered by the electrical current in the body and hate will be abolished, except on tuesdays. also video games will be obsolete as the chemicals pumped into the food will have reached such a level that food is actually replaced by psychoactive chemicals that give you a constant high. and robots will be everywhere and do your bidding and will talk in posh, british accents while stiffly moving about the place. and the ambassadors from alien nations will bring gifts of many tentacled concubines, resulting in a race of hideous genetic accidents, that are kept in secret cages out of the public gaze. the ruined earth below will serve only as a refuge for the species of super cockroach, that has made it's home in the mile thick layer of rubbish that covers the entire earth, and the species of dolphin that, due to toxic waste in the oceans, has mutated into the shape of david schwimmer.

The key to our survival would be the colonization of other planets. So the soon it happens the higher the chances of us has a species to survive.
So in 500 years you could potentially see Mars beginning to get colonized and the process of terraforming it beginning.
Then again this only applies if we won't screw up the world even more than it is today...or heck this might all end in 2012 if Sarah Palin runs for president of the United States and wins.
