That is my fear or else they give Bethesda a 40k RPG to do. Don't get me wrong I like their games but I need more than an immersive world for a 40k game if it were to be a RPG. Well, that is one thing Bethesda can't seem to do which is good combat game play. Block or Shield bash and then smack someone twice doesn't make for engaging combat.
If it was the warhammer fantasy battle that could be good. Have axe will travel.

If it was the 40k version of fallout 3....err it might be good (ish) maybe...

Wait and see.

Couldn't just go for a "I don't know therefore Aliens" could you? Had to be different.

As I said I like Bethesda games but I do not like their game play that much and I would like a 40k or Warhammer RPG to have much tighter mechanics.

Hopefully what'll happen is the rights to Homeworld will follow them, and we'll have a beautiful sequel (Remake?) to the best series ever.
Yes please that. 3D RTS at it's finest and not to mention a beautiful musical score.

then some other publisher will buy the rights, and hopefully allow Relic to keep working on them. Oh, and this:

Also, maybe a Battlefleet Gothic game in the same vein as Homeworld?

Hopefully the license gets picked up by someone who is not only competent, but understands WH40k. Despite THQ's current trouble, I can honestly say that their use of the 40k license was fairly well done. I would hope that someone else in the future could do just as well or better.

Imagine if Obsidian got the chance to do a 40K RPG based on Ravenor or Eisenhorn.

Oh god it'd be beautiful.
Alpha Protocol with the Inquisition (and QA testing).

Who's up for spamming the Obsidian inbox?

That's nice. Now, did you actually have anything to say about the actual topic, or do you feel the need to spread other topics (OF WHICH I WAS TRYING TO AVOID, DAMMIT) everywhere else just because you can?

If you just chose this topic randomly to post that, please get off your computer and STAY off until you've calmed down.

How about not since they would need to get the rights. If anything go to THQ since 1: They own the license and 2: they work with Obsidian a bit and are publishing the South Park game Obsidian is making.

Seems rather unnecessary doesn't it?

OT: The games have sold well enough that I believe the license will not be on the market long in the event that THQ sinks.

If THQ went under and Insomniac took the 40k franchise with Relic. Things could only get better!

I think I would be dissapointed if Valve got it. I've never thought their games were that great and their release schedule is pretty, um...well, let's just say I'd like another 40K video game before I die of old age.

GW keeps a pretty tight hold of their IP, and I doubt they'd simply give it to another producer who wouldn't treat it the way they want people to treat it. I mean, that's a big reason why there are so few licensed GW products and why most of them are pretty good. Look at what Fantasy Flight is doing with GW boardgames...that stuff is insane.

... This is about what would happen to the Warhammer 40k game license if THQ goes poof. If THQ goes poof, I doubt they would have the license any more. Obsidian isn't owned by a publisher, and they just make rpgs for anyone who asks. They made Alpha Protocol because Sega needed an rpg to round out their portfolio, and Obsidian had the idea for AP rolling around in their head. If we get the idea for a 40k spiritual successor to AP game rolling around their heads.... you get the idea

Well they still need the money for the license and chances are that's money Obsidian doesn't have. I know what this forum is about but expecting Obsidian to suddenly be doing that seems very unlikely. Granted if Obsidian did make a 40k game I would totally buy it but I like all of Obsidian's work.

sure it's unlikely, hence the inbox spamming

It's unlikely because of money not demand. Spamming will just be spamming. Also don't bring up kickstarter since I'm pretty sure Obsidian would prefer to make something they want to.

Do you remember all the attention that Chris Avellone got when he said that he wanted to do an isometric rpg? in Kickstarter? Also: Eisenhorn and Ravenor have a pretty big following, and I'm sure that they would want to see a proper video game adaptation. The money/want (on both sides) is there, people just need to know.
