I'll spend $10 on a movie ticket for a film that will entertain me for two hours.

Spending $60 on Skyrim, which will likely entertain me for at least a hundred hours seems like a fantastic deal.

In retrospect as a dollars per hour entertained, Oblivion would have been a bargain at $200.

$40 if I'm really interested in the game and absolutely have to get it during a particular time frame (like because of an incoming birthday or because I have a few days off), $30 otherwise.

Often it depends--I "demo" most games before I buy them now, but before the $60 standard, I was content with a $40 tag if it was something I really wanted. Halo for PC is one of the few games that I bought blind for full release price, and Space Marine is the other. I've regretted neither purchase (though Space Marine was that special Steam pre-order bundle with Darksiders, but w/e. Close enough.)

$60, though, is more than I will ever pay for a game without having already played it through, and $50 is really pushing it.

I'm willing to pay $60 but only for certain titles. Otherwise $40 would definitely be more doable for me but at the moment, I'm still uncertain about buying Homefront or Duke Nukem Forever for $20. Really it all depends on the games in question. I'm probably getting the Ultimate New Vegas which I'm guessing will retail at around $40 or $45.

There are a lot of games like that for me too, like the Playstation Final Fantasy titles which I still play around with Bioware RPGs and, Bethesda RPGs. All great values and under-priced considering the amount of hours I've spent on each.

Like I said though, it's all case-by-case. I would pay $60 for Saint's Row 3 and, Skyrim but I wouldn't pay $60 a Heavy Rain sequel.
