What worlds would you like to drop The Doctor into?

Yeah so I just started watching Doctor Who... I Just started the 3rd season... I'm heart broken over the loss of Rose. PLEASE FOR MY BENEFIT USE THE SPOILER TAGS

Main thing I've been loving about this series is, aside from it being masterfully written (I've only cried "Bullshit!" once, and that was Rose using the Pyschic Paper on a piece of machinery), is that the premise allows the writers to tell ANYSTORY. You can literally drop the doctor into any reality, any television show, any time period, with out disrupting the way the universe functions.

So, and here's the question... Where what setting would you want to drop The Doctor into?

1. Gotham City
Who the hell wouldn't want this? The Doctor coming face to face with his Human equal? Also it pains me to say, really it does, I'm a total Batman fan, I think the Doctor can out do Batman.

2. Edge City (The Mask)
Just one sentence: The Doctor Wears The Mask. A being of infinite knowledge, space and time, completely inhibited and harnessing the powers of the cursed mask of Loki.

3. Mass Effect
C'mon, this setting is just ripe for it. The fate of the galaxy and the Reapers? Can you imagine the back and forth dialogue Doctor would have with the Reapers? Hell just by adding Doctor Who to the mix you have questions over weather the Cybermen and Daleks go the way of the Geth... Or hell, how many Reapers does it take to kill one Dalek?

So those are my three... Where would you drop The Doctor?

I'd post my ideas, but fanfiction has already covered them. It's predictable that Doctor Who is such a popular subject in crossover fan works since it's so easy to drop the Doctor in another fictional universe without that much complex explanation.

Sherlock's an obvious one, considering the two shows are both run by Steven Moffat and their protagonists are so similar. Plus, there's so much conflict potential just by putting the open, playful Doctor together with the brilliant but sociopathic Sherlock. The best one I've came across is this Firefly crossover [http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3486089/1/The-Man-With-No-Name]. Though I'd heavily recommend people to watch both shows being crossed-over before watching this, it's a great read even if you're only a Whoovian. In fact, it's one of the best pieces of fanfiction that I've ever come across; depicting the characters of both shows spot-on and referencing both the source materials. Just make sure you watch the episode "Runaway Bride" beforehand.

Now THAT would have been an ending to Mass Effect 3 i'd have loved to see.

It would tickle me because Shepard sometimes comes across like a Warhammer Ork (we iz ooman, we will win ... WAAAAAAAGH).

And at the very end, when it looks bleak and the galaxy is about to be wiped out .... children start crying and the Reapers take pity, hug everyone better and piss off home to watch Emmerdale on catch up TV .... Because emotion can do what giant guns can't in Doctor Who.

Failing that, he will use his massive intellect to go to the Citadel, listen to sparkle kids bullshit, realise it's controlling the Reapers and find the fucking off switch.

2000 AD. I'd love to see The Doctor in Mega-City One. I may have only jumped to this conclusion because one of the artists of 2000 AD (Dave Gibbons, I think, the guy who drew Watchmen) also worked on the Doctor Who comics for a good while. Besides, Judge Dredd got a crossover with Batman... 'sif he wouldn't also get a cameo with Doctor Who. Even Picard got to meet The Doctor! In... like... the worst cross-over comic ever made BUT MY POINT STANDS. Dredd and Who. Make this happen.

Also, before you say "AHA YES I AM BEST DOCTOR WHO MAN FOR WATCH NEW SERIES" (it's really not that well-written when you actually sit to think about it so don't), I recommend digging up some of the old stuff. If only enough to equate yourself with Doctors one through eight. Paul McGann's Doctor's TV movie is reasonably enjoyable, there's a lot of great Tom Baker episodes, find some black and white stuff and dig through that, all of Pertwee's episodes have a dapper charm, and hell, find every of the Daleks serial you can find and marathon 'em or something. The new Doctor Who is certainly a lot of fun, but even with all the flashy effects a good acting and solid scripts... there's something magic about the classics. Understand that they're called "classic" for a reason and dig into them, I say! It's a bit of fun. (Just don't spend too much money on them.)

I've only watched a couple of the classics and I hate to say it but whilst the stories were compelling I found most of the acting to be quite wooden. It all seemed a bit overdone and Shakespearean. It really stopped me enjoying it properly. ( I don't recall the names of the episodes, but they where both Tom Baker episodes, one of which was giant space ants attacking a space ark, and the other was something about mummies.)

Warhammer 40K. Classic off-the-wall British sci-fi fantasy meets modern off-the-wall British sci-fi fantasy. And the Daleks would fit in perfectly with all the other insane, overpowered, genocidal, absolute xenophobes.

James Bond and Sherlock Holmes. Along with the Doctor they're the most iconic figures in british fiction. I'm almost surprised this one hasn't happened yet. Of course the show would be more inclined to feature the authors rather than their creations, but given that Fleming and Conan Doyle both had very interesting lives that could work too.

I've only watched a couple of the classics and I hate to say it but whilst the stories were compelling I found most of the acting to be quite wooden. It all seemed a bit overdone and Shakespearean. It really stopped me enjoying it properly. ( I don't recall the names of the episodes, but they where both Tom Baker episodes, one of which was giant space ants attacking a space ark, and the other was something about mummies.)

Oh god, don't stick to one era like that. I say, watch one episode from each Doctor, go rent the DVDs from a DVD rental place and just soak it up. Baker lasted... what, I think 8 years? Maybe 7? He lasted longer than anyone else in the role and his episodes are the few that encompass all shades of the series, from great acting, poor writing, great writing, poor acting.

Here's an idea. The Big Finish audio dramas are really good. They still write and record them to this day - their 2013 season's been announced - and they have original stories from most all the Doctors, all of them completely canon. If you can, track down Jubilee - it's the inspiration for Chris Eccleston's Dalek episode - I'd consider it required fiction. If you don't wanna listen to it cos it's audio only... well... suck it up and listen to it ya idiot >;u

How about he comes to our world, OUR world, takes one look at the internet, the people who call themselves his fans, and then decides right then and there, never to come back again?
It'd be realistic, and arguably the most sane decision he could ever make, especially if by accident, he wandered into the TvTropes Doctor Who discussion board or any forum based chat relating to Doctor Who, and got to see the FANWANK at play in all of its unnatural, awkward, and horrible glory.

It'd be like sitting Mario down in front of a collection of Pornography starring Peach and Bowser, then telling him to "suck it up." Or if you sat Sonic down in front of fanfiction or fanart of his series and just watched his reactions.

If I didn't suggest this, then another horribly embittered nerd with a great disdain for fanwank would've suggested this.
