What would a true MMOFPS really be like?

Borderlands but without the four player co-op and instead a large faction-based system similar to Alliance and Horde in WoW. I mean, Borderlands is already a lot like an MMORPG. It has RPG elements, a large amount of quests, the ability to interact with other players, and a MASSIVE amount of weapons.

I forgot about that game writing this. Thanks for reminding me.

You do know that many MMOFPS games already exist right?

Look up Huxley, I played in a closed beta for that already.

I'd enjoy that quite a lot, personally. I was never really into Halo much, except as a way to pass the time with friends, but if Borderlands-esque RPG elements were applied, along with the infrastructure suggested by the OP, I could see myself spending a fair amount of time playing it.

That said, when I hear the term "MMOFPS", the first word that comes to mind is "kill". Without some kind of mutual agreement duel system, I'd imagine most players would spend most of their time running around killing indiscriminately. Heck, I would. It's just the nature of the FPS genre; if it moves, shoot it.

My idea of an MMOFPS would be closer to Lost Planet 2 or Borderlands. Big dangerous monsters outside the world that you'd have a hard time killing alone so you have to group up and take down the big alien scorpion. Classes are obviously included in a similar fashion to Borderlands. Big world. Lots of things to kill. Quests. Etc.

And then there can be a PVP element as well.

Basically I think it would have to be like Borderlands but in a world as big or bigger than WoW.

I honestly think it would be like Borderlands, but on a much bigger scale.
