As the skyrim DLC pack Dawnguard was announced recently, I've been thinking about what i would put in a DLC pack, and what everyone else would want. My best idea so far would be for your character (depending on what race you chose) would go back to the province they were born in (Argonians back to black marsh, Bretons to high rock ect.). I'm not to sure what the plot would be but it would be awesome to see all of the unexplored regions of Tamriel. What would be your idea for a skyrim dlc?

That would be an insane amount of content for a single DLC pack, or each area would be the size of a very small island to fit it all in.

It's essentially creating a seperate DLC pack for every race, plus what would happen if you played a nord? would you go back to... skyrim? What about oblivion or daggerfall? we've already seen those areas. Plus how would the dark elves return to morrowind?

I'd personally like to see a DLC with an insane 'scientist' looking to summon an ancient evil or release a deadly virus or something. exploring a giant 'lab' would be a pretty neat area and they could add a lot more to the alchemy part of the game.

After you've completed the Civil War and Dragon campaigns I would love to do preparations for a war against the Admeri:

Fortifying Skyrim against invasion by organising building defences, restocking and garrisoning forts, making diplomacy trips between Jarls to get them to work together, seeking out spys and informants, and mobilising the Companions, College of Winterhold, and even the Dark Brotherhood and the Forsworn depending on the quests you did.

If you sided with the Imperials you would get a lot more resources, to stock up forts, build defences, manage road blocks and checkpoints etc. although you would recieve less men, as many Nords would be drafted away to fight elsewere in Tamriel, but if you sided with the Stormcloaks you would get more men (mainly Nord forces, whereas the Empires forces would be more mixed) but less resources to divide between them.
The differnce would be that you would have enough resources to take back all the forts, fortify all the towns, build a pile of forward camps etc. but not enough men to guard them all, whereas with the Stormcloaks you would have enough men to garrison everywhere, but not enough time or resources to achieve it.

There would be an invisible countdown to an invasion (lasting a few months) before which several Aldmeri skirmishes would happen, increasing in rapidity to signal when the main force was coming, then they would attack at from several random areas at once (hitting Solitude or Windhelm from the sea, or coming over the mountains into the other holds.) You would then have to defend cities from the attackers, it would be arranged so you couldn't hold them all; some would fall while you defended others, and you'd have to keep fighting until either all the Jarls were killed and defeated, or you drove the attackers out of every city and chased the retreating forces back over the border.

I understand it would be pretty much impossible to have large scale invasions like this due to computing power, but a man can dream.

I'd love to see Elesweyr, I've got a thing about deserts. I can imagine the entire desert being open for exploration, with dunes that shifted and left some places inaccessible and some open for exploration. It would be really interesting to think that despite the fact that you've explored an area there may be entire caves, ruins, or other locations hidden beneath the sand. I can also imagine some kind of unknown creature that lives under the sand, which can appear anywhere at any time, and is as powerful as, say, Alduin. It could be incredible difficult to slay, due to it fleeing when it's health gets low. There could also be wandering nomad tribes, desert shamans and tons of new enemy types. That's my dream DLC, but I can't see it happening.
Who knows though?

Everything he said. That sounds great. Give me that.
I hate those guys, I killed everyone I could on that 'stealth mission' just because of it.
And I play as a Dark Elf...

Two expansions I'd like to see:

-One that allows you to establish a new dynasty. As the first dragonborn since the Septim line died out, you've got more claim to what is left of the Empire than any other. Along the way, you can find a way to cripple the Aldmeri dominion and restore the worship of Talos (or not).

Preferably, it would also fix the bloody Blades. I've always known them as honorable and highly dependable individuals. Here, they're basically useless, and want you to commit an act of petty revenge against a creature that has done nothing but help, in order to convince them to keep helping you. I'd like to have both them and Parthanax behind me on the way to the throne.

-One that extends the quests for the primary guilds (the real quests, not those dinky randomly generated things). Realistically, becoming the leader of an organization should just be the beginning. One can envision the Companions being hired to defend someone's stronghold against unusually organized bandits and/or train/lead the troops they already have, negotiating a peace between the Mage's College and Winterhold when tensions get too high, pulling off an elaborate scheme to find a mole within the ranks of the thieves guild, etc, etc.

I definitely would like to see a war against the Dominion. The game hints so much at an upcoming war that it would be criminal of Bethesda to not allow us to see it through.

I'd also like to visit another Daedric realm. Not sure which one. Maybe Meridia's or Azura's. I think the title of this DLC might actually be hinting at a Meridia questline.

A larger variety of enemies. For example some creatures from Morrowind could have started to move into skyrim due to the red mountain erupting.

Skyrim needs Cliff racers.

If I had creative control, my DLC campaign would be to literally walk into Summerset and stomp all over the Thalmor for a few days. Let the dovahkiin play a key role in finishing the war with the Aldmeri Dominion, as those fuckheads never ceased to piss me off in the game. I went out of my way to regularly purge their presence from Skyrim.

Skyrim already has cliff racers. They just use the alias "dragons" to lull people into a false sense of security.

Edit: And I'm totally not saying this because I rushed through the main quest line and regularly run into groups of 3+ dragons all attacking me at once, and I then call in Odahviing just so there can be more dragons.

In the lore the Thalmor are currently invading Valenwood and oppressing the native Bosmer. I'd like to see a Shivering Isles sized DLC set in Valenwood that fleshes out the Thalmor a bit and actually lets us kill plenty of the bastards. I'm thinking that the main quest line would finish with you setting off a Wild Hunt; a ritual where the Bosmer transform themselves into monsters to drive out the invaders.

Secondary enemies in the region could be Sea Elves (Maormer) which are effectively pirate-elves that come from an island south of the region. Also, it would be nice if Sload finally made an appearance. And then you'd have the usual suspects; undead, vampires, random beasts. Satyrs, centaurs and imga could all make a first time appearance too.

I think a game or DLC set in Valenwood could be brilliant... if done correctly it could be just as unique as Morrowind was. Walking trees spring to mind.

I have to say i would at least truly finish the story in a dynamic way. I would love if after the war you could wind up some how betraying your leader and building a new empire or truely liberating and even ruling Skyrim, it would be fantastic if you could so this with other factions like running a Dark Brotherhood or thieves guild crime empire along each the more noble versions of the two gilds (Dark brotherhood back under the 5 tenants or a Robbin Hood like thieves guild similar to Oblivion you could even do this with the Blades or Forsworn.

To me this has always been what Elder Scrolls is. A giant do anything you want we do not even care if you finish the main story go a head help out random people first kind of game that almost lack structure entirely, it is easily it's biggest pull for me. I also notice it is why so many hate the series and perhaps a truly full story like that creates a wold massively different than the one you first arrived on could please both the groups that loves the open endedness and the ones who hate it.

YES. Yes to both of you. Those are great ideas, and I approve.

A lot of people are wanting a Shivering Isles-like DLC, with a new place to explore. While not a bad idea, I think there's a too many dangling plot threads to explore from vanilla Skyrim to ignore. Oblivion drove me nuts when Martin died and then the issue of succession was never resolved. So a note to Bethesda:

DON'T leave the Aldmeri War unfinished. This is my number one request, above all others. Let us fight against or even with them, but don't resolve that off screen between TES 5 and 6. I've honestly never bought DLC yet, and a chance to finish the war might be my first.

Big expansion where my character and Odahviing kick the Thalmor right off the face of Nirn.
Also, a tweak to Odaviing where I can make him land and use him as transport between Skyrim, Valenwood, and Summerset isle, or just fly around.

Necromancer guild where my character can become a lich (The same way Mannimarco did, so my character still looks normal but with higher magical ability and immunity to disease, poison, and drowning).

As in... armour for dragons, or armour made from dragons? Because I can't think what end the former would serve, and the latter is already in game...

It would be like horse armour with 2 holes cut for the wings.
