What would make your Forum RPing more fun? Updated 5/14

The thread doesn't even say what a RP is. It also doesn't explain the term OOC. My point being, there are a lot of questions the new people will have that could be answered fairly easy by expanding the thread (this is also evidenced by the trench-coat question from above).

All I'm asking for are definitions of commonly used terms, a general explanation of what a RP is and how one can work, and advice for beginners who have no idea what the hey is going on

Wish I could advertise myself somehow... but since I can not, you are right. I have been planning on making such a thread together with some of my fellow role-players, since I know it would be of use. I say "planning", since I haven't had quite enough time, but this does give me even more motivation.

Yellow names are mods, you can send messages to anybody with a yellow name, wether regarding a locking of a thread, reporting someone, whatever.

Haha. Yes, both. wilsonscrazybed is looking at the first draft. I must now ask that further discussion regarding this be conducted via PM so as not to derail the thread even further (yes, it was my fault). I am quite excited, and will happily take any advice and opinions. ^_^

Also, if you haven't mentioned them already:

1) Time paradoxes in battles: it can look odd if someone hits post during a battle, and winds up fighting someone who isn't there anymore. Almost ran into this by accident just now

2) Taking control of other's characters. How to do it properly when they say they've gotta go for awhile, and such.

The "Personality" section on the character sheet needs to be in-depth enough that when the DM does take over the character, they can think up their actions based on it.

I think that splitting apart the forum games and RP section would be a great help

both activities are growing, and I believe that they need to have their own sections in order to continue growing.

I wholeheartedly agree. On the front page all I see are these games, with 50 kajillion posts each, that just swamp the small but good RPs. The genuinely interesting ones just seem to drown in games.

I think a good easy change would be the addition of a advertising friendly sticky thread, where authors could make posts to get the word out on their new RP's and recruit people.
(when I say advertising I mean advertising for RP's on this site only,)
