I'm suprised at how little people have thought this through, its last man standing free for all. My item choice is simple.

1 large extremely thick lead box for me to sit in and wait for all everyone to kill eachother

1 layer of extremely radioactive material to coat the outside of my box so that the last few people alive who come to kill me die from radiation while trying to figure out how to get in.

1 Complete Food rations. (perferably food with high water content too so i dont have to worry about that.)

I sit, I eat, I wait, I win.

first problem: there will most certainly be stupid noobs all like "i havs a rocket lauchers" shooting anything and everything, and your hut will be a prime target(lead is incredibly soft for metal).

second problem: youre not fighting, thus the alien dudes will probably come in and kill you.

third problem: air.
1st problem, if its thick enough i'd probably be fine, but i'll make it a lead and steel mix or whatever is the best material for stopping tank shells.

2nd problem: I am fighting, I'm constantly firing a barrage of radiation at everything within several meters of me.

3rd problem: I just need to make it big enough so that it contains enough air for me to survive until my food runs out.

this thing your talking about... would have to be massive(1 shot from an rpg-7 can pierce though 30 inches of solid steel), and i dont think youll find to many on earth, plus, you have to have it fit neatly on your body, and i just dont see that happening.

plus, youd be hated by the audience because youd have the least entertaning kills. you know what happened to roman gladiators who failed to entertain, right? same thing.

1 - Gas grenades.
2 - Gas Mask
3 - Assault rife.

The rifle is for anyone else who brought a gas mask.

you said bring to a fight... technically speaking... with that big of an area of effect it doesn't even have to be in same city as you to cluster fuck the shit out of everyone that pissed you off so... also I could just as easily have gone for: neutron bomb, antimatter bomb, planet cracker and ,my personal favorite, the point singularity generator so the no nuke rule is redundant when I could just as easily bring something equally (if not more) destructive to the table, no?

ah, yes, but didnt i say it has to be real(a rule you, along with most other people, completey ignored.)

Having read the rules, I think perhaps the most suitable combination of items might be:

a.) An extremely strong electromagnet. It would have to be powerful enough to repel bullets and attract metal objects for a large radius.

b.) A fully enclosed biohazard/chemical warfare suit with no metallic components.

c.) A few small canisters of something horrible (probably about the size and dimensions of a ballpoint pen). Some kind of weaponized ebola virus, perhaps. The canisters would be metallic so that I can propel them at high velocity with my electromagnet, scattering them around the place.

Anyone that survives the weaponized canister contents would have a hard time bringing me down, because their weapons would probably be at my feet thanks to the magnet.

Also, anyone with any tooth fillings, tattoos, or anyone with anything metallic about their person or nearby metal would probably die a horrible death the first time I activate the magnet.

I realize that magnet of this power might be quite large, so either it'd need wheels, treads, or I'd have to buff up and carry it in.

EDIT: If c.) counts as more than one item, then it would probably be possible with just one cannister, as long as the weaponized contents could be suspended in a solution of microscopic magnetically sensitive capsule structures (these can be engineered in a lab, and some naturally occurring structures, and indeed inside some cells - though I forget the name of the organelle). That way the magnet could disperse the agent in the air.
EDITEDIT!: Now that I think about (kind of a weird thing to do...) any virus would take far too long. I'd probably need a nerve agent - I hear there are some that can penetrate gas masks and even more sophisticated ventilation filters, and act in seconds - naturally, I'd have the neutralizing agent applied to the filters in my suit!

I like your thinking, but I don't think you will be able to find a box that is strong enough to resist rockets and radioactive enough that it will quickly kill anyone in the vicinity.

I do like the idea of hiding and not fighting though, since just running out and start killing seems like an extremely stupid strategy. But it also seems likely that more people will realize this. Since there are hundreds of people, it seems like this might take a very long time. And although risky, I think it probably would be wise to form alliances (kind of like some of the Highlanders do, even though in the end there can be only one).

Anyway, I think by far the most essential thing to have would be food/water, so I'd take a large backpack full of that. Furthermore, I want to be hiding, so I'd take some kind of lightweight camouflaged armor. For the third item, I would either take a huge knife (maybe even a short sword) or some type of gun. If someone with a gun does spot me and I don't have one, I will be screwed. But on the other hand, it seems most people are taking guns, so it seems easy to grab that of someone's corpse and a melee weapon can come in handy as well. So I'll probably take some kind of big-ass knife.

1) Warbler, basically an electro magnetic generator that alters bullet courses.

2)

except with rubber bullets, so I don't have to turn the warbler off.

3) Katana to finish them off, if they're not already dead due to 30 rubber bullets fired at their noggin.

nice idea, just many types of guns(like the scar and m-15) are made out of materials other than iron, and standard munitions are made of lead(armor piercers are made of steel, which is just iron with carbon) other than that, good idea.

oh, and you can have as many canisters as you want, they are ammunition. just remember, you're carying all of them.

a warbler? hate to burst your bubble, but lead isnt magnetic. plus, even if they were(like in the case of armor-piercers) i'd be travelling fast enough that it wouldnt matter.

1. A revolver with those damn cool belts that cross you chest with ammunition (and belts around waist and legs and so on)
2. something to eat
3. A white flag

Well firstly, most modern bullets are being made of steel now to reduce lead poisoning, and that is magnetic.

Secondly, I'm not stopping the bullet, rather altering its course. Of course it probably wouldn't work at point blank range (or against a large caliber bullet), but it would stop me getting shot by standard small arms fire from mid to long range.

okay hmm leme think :

1) fallout brotherhood of steel style bodyarmor (not so dificult considering my avatar) I think with the modern day servo technology like HULC its not that difficult to realize a version of this where you slap steel plating around the limps and body instead of just increasing your cary capacity

2) a helmet to go with the armor, once again I'm inclined to go with the fallout power armor helmet becauze its prety much like the ps3 it only does everything. Heavy duty head protection. Flashlight, airfiltration etc. The only modification I could see myself making to that helmet is the addition of night vission and prob thermal aswell

3) first thought minigun but as I started to think realisticly even with power armor I couldn't possibly carry enough bullets for more than say 20 seconds of continues fire + the warm up puts me at a serieus disatvantage if I ought to get ambushed or other wise snuck up on. So I'm gonna go with the AA-12 with a big supply of 32round drum mag. I'll have a some normal shotgun drums AND a some of the semi-grenade rounds design'd for it to give me firepower at longer range's. I would also mod it to have a bayonett "just-in-case"

That being said if I'm allowed to count the helmet as part of the armor I would take some kind of preformance enhancing drug as 3'd slot. Adrenaline would be nice but I'll prob be getting enough anyway and the effects are kind of shortlive'd so its only really worth it if I'm allowed to take multiple syringe's as 1-slot. I would actually be more inclined to take morphine or a simmilar more powerfull narcotic wired up in the armor so it can be immidiatly apply'd when necassary. If something manage's to get thru my armor I don't want to be out of the fight because of pain just yet. The entire concept of feeling no pain allows you to go so much further than you normaly could. In a FFA with so much people that ability would be almost invaluable

EDIT: just realized that once fight has started, I can always steal stuff from the dead people
