The deal of movies or animes screwing with your head leads to an unique experience. I was wondering what do you consider a mind screw or f**k. I know that with atleast the subject of anime and movies I have been looking for this experience. I have yet to find it, but then again Fooly Cooly, Serial Experiment Lain, Donnie Darko, Primer, and Dark City(for a couple of examples I know off hand) made sense to me. Hell with Lain there is an episode that did that. So in my search for the experience of a mind f**k I was wondering what you would call a mind f**k?

"Luke... I am your father."

Mind = Blown.

I kid... I kid. To be honest I never actually get surprised, I just go... "Huh, I guess that makes sense."

If it doesn't I tend to ask anyone else did it make sense to them, if it did not... I assume whatever logic they were using was being pulled straight out of the writer's ass.

Most books by Philip K. Dick

American Psycho - I've seen loads of films with a bit of mind fuckery but this was one of the biggest.

This post wins out of a mixture of its content and because your post count was my birth year.

On topic, even though it's very unoriginal, someone had to say Evangelion.

2001 A Space Odyssey -

Total mindfuck

Maybe it's just because I saw it at 11, but it made some circuits in my brain be rewired.

Well I suppose you could try watching a regular film under the influence of paint thinner.

Pink Floyd The Wall usually still gets to me, then again it seems like every time I watch it I'm drunk so it's probably a bad example.

Hmmm...

Natural Born Killers, THAT is a messed up movie.

"Jacob's Ladder". I saw it when I was eight and I couldn't sleep because I kept thinking that the faceless man was going to put spiders in my mouth while I slept.
"Fraily" is another good mind screw, but not as child warping as "Jacob's Ladder".

and finally: "Brazil". They actually had to re-edit the entire movie because it was so messed up.
