I'd have to go with another cat/a kitten for number 1, since my cat died a while ago.
Number two, at the moment I'm thinking a dragon, though I'm not sure what type of dragon (e.g. simply animal a la mythology, or sentient like in the inheritance cycle because though the books are terrible, the dragons are pretty cool)

1) wolf hands down, exotic, intelligent, fierce sense of pack mentality, badass.
2) I'd have to say a Prinny from Disgaea, honestly a blue penguin that can fight, do your chores, and if he makes you mad, explode when thrown, kinda hard NOT to want one of those.
