I'm really confused, why would not being able to delete your web history be a bad thing?
PORN!!!!!

Ahem. I would use a different browser that I delete all the short cuts for and basically make a pain in the balls to find. If anyone else wants to use my computer for going online, they'll use the first browser they come across, the one without all the porn on the history.
Why exactly are people looking at your history for porn? Better question: why are people looking at your history at all?

To be fair you get a snapshot of your history as soon as you type a letter into the URL bar, because it suggests recently visited links.

Just prevent people from going anywhere near my laptop. This might not seem like such a regular occurance for most people but my mum and brother often opt to use it in place of the ageing, lag ridden husk tat is our desktop computer.

History is what keeps you from having to type in escapistmagazine.com every time you want to come here. you type in esc and the rest comes up. Same thing happens for every site you've ever been to. So they aren't looking for it but like google with safe search turned off, they will find it(porn of course).

Probably not even notice for months/years. It's my computer, and no one else can/does use it, so why would I worry about anything like that? On the rare occasions someone else does use one of my computers, it's on a guest account with no access to my files. Keeps them out of my crap and also keeps all my crap out of their way.

I would create a guest account and keep fighting the good fight. If that's impossible, then my laptop would be used for the mundane things while the PC for everything else. If someone needs a computer, they can use my laptop.

Heres a random question, what would you do if your pc just suddenly stoped letting you clear history, without prior warning, you just went to delete you history 'FOR WHATEVER REASON' one day and bam. For dicussion purposes the only way to get rid of your history would be to wipe your pc, you couldn't just switch browsers, why? cos a wizzard did it.

Me, Id panic and tell people my pc's broke, perma broke. never use my pc.. ever.. it will give you a disease, a bad disease, aids.

Also apologies to anyone who clicked expecting a time travel related threat ^^
If I had my old computer, my parents would probably yell at me for going on "risky" sites, but now that I have a Mac, no site that I regularly go on puts me at risks for viruses. My parents don't get to comment on it now.

Haha even when I can delete my history my girlfriend's found porn on my computer several times.

I find it amusing, but thankfully she's understanding.

Does no-one else on The Escapist have any disgusting fetishes they would like to keep to themselves?

Like vaginal fisting, with scat? Or vore with gore? Or pegging?

Would I be the only one doomed to fear lending my computer to anyone and anything?

Fact of the matter is, I'm a single 21 year old guy. So yes, I look at porn. All my friends may not know that explicitly, but the fact is we all know people watch it. So there's nothing I'm asham... shit, they'd see the Madonna videos I watched on youtube. Yeah, no one but me would be allowed on my pc.
YOU SIR, ARE YOU A RABID FETISHIST?! WILL YOU NOT JOIN ME ON OUR PATH TO ETERNAL SHAME!?!

I wouldn't do much, since I don't let my browser keep history.
If that didn't work, I'd just use a hidden alternate account with an insanely long password for anything I didn't want others to see.
Oh wait, I already do anyway!

No one can even get on my PC without my password, BUT... I think I'll just go ahead and delete any questionable history bits now.
