I would go solo quickly, team up with the bully or people in my class I hate, work well as a team, and then I'd hang back and BOOM! Me wins. Or they'll hang back and shoot me first....so its a flawed plan, but it be worth a few more hours living.

I would die in the first three seconds. If i survive though i would go and snipe and make traps.
Normally I'd try to find a mountainous area to use as a base, but the whole danger zone thing would make that impossible.
Instead, I'd walk a short distance to an area with a lot of undergrowth and hide. When the other people behind me come out, I'd surprise and kill them. I may only do this a few times to get extra supplies and weapons before walking deeper into the island.

Well going by the odds I'd probably die. Especially seeing as at that age I didn't know half the things I do now, and honestly there are a lot of people a heck of a lot nastier than me if we're going with adults (and say making this "the Condemned" rather than Battle Royale).
The trick to the scenario as presented is that you can't take a purely defensive stance, since honestly that is one of the first things people are going to think of. If you want to survive you pretty much need to eliminate the competition meaning you wind up having to go to them.
It's also notable that in heading for places like the woods to set traps and the like, your going to run into a lot of direct confrontations with people that have the same idea.
The idea of wading out into the water is an interesting one, but only assuming nobody saw you do it, and if you are seen your a sitting duck. Also chances are your going to ruin your guns if you have them, and honestly sitting for three days in salt water is not going to be fun.
Really there is no way around it being a craps shoot at the best.

Perhaps it would be wise to shoot myself, before some psychotic chick viciously maims me with a wooden cooking spoon. If I didn´t receive a gun, however, I would probably just crack up and start running amok until someone else shoots me.

go hide somehwere for a few days, then come out when the numbers were thinned so as to have less of a problem winning
I would like to say something really cool like take the best weapons by force from my classmates before brutalizing my way to victory, emerging covered in blood and more than a bit insane.

I would be one of the nice guys. Helping defending against the vicous bitches and fucked up dudes. (Using a reallyreally large leadpipe or empale them with rusty stuff) Then, when only three of us left, we see there is no other escape, and if i haven't found my true feeling for the female lead i murder them all and are seen in the last scene bemoaning their death....
