I would just let it happen since I wouldn't step near to the spider at all (I scare of spider).

If the butterfly's only magical power is filling a starving spider's belly for the rest of its natural life, I'd say it would be a shame to let that power go to waste.

Nature is a *****. If the butterfly is dumb enough to land in a spiders web then nom nom to the spider I say.

I would let the spider take the butterfly. If I let the butterfly go it will die very shortly anyway (they have a short life-span). The butterfly that escapes a spider's web will be no better off if I let it go. Even if the spider feeds though it too will die soon.

That said; I have an irrational fear of spiders. I'd steer clear of that web unless there was a cat stuck in it. T_T

What about me though? If I let the spider eat the butterfly, or if I let the butterfly escape; what happens to me? Will I die in this place? Will I be able to leave and feed myself? This theoretical discussion places a whole lot emphasis on what I would do to influence the circle of life but it is highly unrealistic because to start with I would look out for my own health over that of insects.

They both have equal right to live but at the same time the spider is murderer since its attempting to kill the spider so do I want to stop a murderer or do I want natural selection hmmmmmmmmmm

In that situation, the spider fairly caught its prey.

'Tis not my job to mess with the natural order of things.

Nature must take it's course... Plus, I've always had a soft spot for spiders.

If the butterfly is the only flying insect in the garden, then I would reason that it needs to survive to help pollinate the plants, without which the garden will fall into a pretty sorry state after a while.

I'd rather be trapped in a beautiful and floral garden with a butterfly, than a dull and lifeless garden with a spider.

Id save the butterfly,

I don't like the idea of interfering with natural selection as it messes with the natural flow of life, however if there was only a spider and butterfly in the garden, the spider doesn't have any flies to capture, and the butterfly is the only thing capable of transferring pollen between the plants and keeping the garden vibrant. so for that reason i would save the butterfly.
