*stares at you with dreamy awe*

Everything...

Well, almost. I'll probably go nuts and after taking care of necessities, make it a point to indulge in so much opulence... At a proper scheduled opportunity. Like... every month or few weeks... I set time just for...

Everything.

1) ensure friends and family NEVER have to work or worry about working again, ever
2) buy land and have a decent sized house built for me
3) pet fox
4) most beastly PC ever
5) cars and actually insure them cause i could afford it
6) donate to medical research, cancer, AIDs and the like
7) get the 40K MMO back on track

um... all i got, and i'm sure i'd have well over 6 billion left

I'd buy a faster internet connection, a mansion on a hundred acres of land, make a paintball arena, post-apocalypse themed, start a movie studio to make my movies, buy all the current and last-gen consoles, a home theatre (proper theatre), a few Aston Martins, a jet, a helicopter, donate a crapton to the Humble Bundle (say, $5 million), buy myself an ultrapowerful computer, umm, running out of ideas now...

Oh, right, and pay off all my debts.

So, I got bored, and calculated what this would all come to. Sort of. I guessed a lot.
$34233000
I still have over $6 billon.

Alright, fund another Indy movie, a good one, fund a Doctor Who movie made by the BBC, fund the next Bond film, after Skyfall, buy Valve, if only to find out what's happening to HL2 Ep 3, or HL3.

EDIT: Changed my mind. Humble Bundle would get $50 million. And then I'd spend maybe $2 billion on other charities, for things like cancer research. Because, seriously, fuck cancer.

Give 4 Billion to charity, invest 1 billion, and keep the other 2 billion in savings.

Hire Takashi Miike to work with Katsuhiro Otomo to make a GOOD live action Akira trilogy, with an American production team for the special effects but done purely in Japanese.

6.2 billion to go...
Really, that would cost 800 million? That would be the most expensive production in history I would think, over 266 million per movie in the trilogy. I'm guessing you aren't planning on making a profit from it? Since it is all in Japanese, you are looking at a very small market for the movie.

I know the whole money thing is hypothetical and all, but that amount of money for such a production, is just way out there.
I have 7 billion dollars, I don't need profit XD Besides, that's still less than the budget for flops like Green Lantern, and giving them the budget doesn't mean they'd go through it all. If I got to see Akira done live action with a dream team of my choice for directors AND it was able to perfectly adapt the books, I don't care. It would be the most accurate adaptation since Dead or Alive.

First, luxury purchases:

1) Several properties - An English stately manor, with surrounding farmland, village, and railway station, which will be my main base of power - I will bribe planning officials if necessary; A penthouse in London, New York, and Tokyo; a traditional Japanese mansion;
2) I'll keep car purchases utilitarian rather than flashy. Armoured Range Rovers, Bentleys, and an armoured motor home. Security first!
3) A private airstrip, a fleet of helicopters and a custom-fitted Boeing 787, outfitted as a flying 5-star hotel.
4) A modest luxury yacht.
5) A host of servants and staff for my properties and vehicles.
6) Renovation of my stately home to include bulletproof windows, proximity alarms, high walls, security bots, armed bodyguards, and a bunker. If you haven't guessed already, I'm rather paranoid about being assassinated :D

Hmm, that adds up to about £500 million, not including maintenance costs. Though the stately home could cost a lot more. I'm willing to go up to £1.5 billion if necessary.

Secondly, business empire building, in no particular order or priority:

1) Buyout of BioWare and EA - I will force the latter to break down into its constituent companies, restoring the likes of Westwood, Maxis, etc. and hiring their old staff. I will maintain a 51% controlling stake in all said companies, without impeding their creative freedom. I'd only step in when their management is being stupid.
2) A regional UK railway company
3) Buy up what remains of GAME group or invest in a new videogame store chain.
4) A small airline
5) Square-Enix - Who will be forced to stop making so many crappy sequels, and start making new IP.
6) ATLUS... just stay classy.
7) MADHOUSE animation studios

I don't know exactly how each costs but I should be able to get at least a few companies. If everything goes to Hell I'll just stash away a few hundred million and run for the hills.

Buy a $250,000,000 house that had 10Br / 10Ba, 2 massive media rooms with super gaming PCs that have Netflix/Hulu plus and can clearly play just about anything they want that way, a huper top notch kitchen, and have any of my close family and even a few of my friends live like kings until they day we die.

2 billion will go to a fun to gather interest and fund any need my children may have. Once I 50% of my cash goes to charity and the estate i have build id split up among it residents as i see it

I'm on a video game website. Obviously I'm a fan of video games.

I would clearly mean to put a hand in the video game industry and influence it in a way beneficial to me somehow. And I'm sure I could with that insane of an amount of money.

I'd probably buy several beloved companies and possibly companies I don't even much like, just to influence what I think would make things better. If they'd be willing to even let go of things. Or at least buy stocks or something that would give me a position of authority or influence within the companies.

And perhaps spread from there to some non-gaming companies, too.

I'd like to have a home in Hokkaido Japan, a big one. A home in South Korea, a home in Russia(preferably a more populated area of Siberia), a home in Finland, a home in Canada, and a home in Hawaii, just to escape from the cold. Maybe a home in Kazakhstan, too. Just because it'd be nice to have a nice big home on the border between East and West. Kazakhstan deserves the economy of a multi-billionaire dumping money into their economy, and to truly have the best of both worlds.

I'd invest a lot of money into regenerative medicine. Because I don't want to die anytime soon.

I'd probably pay for a lot of high quality education very quickly. Like some 24 hour language coaches so I could reach as much of fluency in languages I'm interested in as possible.

In one of my mansions, I think it would be fun to have the world's biggest pool. I love swimming, and I'd love to have this gigantic labyrinth of sorts of connected pools. I think I'd connect every room in the house to the pool somehow. And if humanly possible, I would make many of the pool walls, one big gigantic lcd screen. And have everything in the house connected with a gigantic network. So that basically, when in the pool, I just just watch all the shows, play all the games, and browse the internet while swimming. And have of course lots of resources to come up for air or get air otherwise, to keep going and also be safe.

Because that would just be neat and adventurous. And also a much healthier way to be using the computer and playing video games than being sedentary.

I think I'd also have the house(s) pretty big and a labyrinth and tribute to things I love in general. I play video games, a lot of dungeons are huge mansions with hidden passageways. Obviously I'd like to do something like that if I had that kind of money. Probably have a lot of bookcases, nice furniture, and probably nice statues dedicated to things I love all over the place.

Back to the video games topic. I think I would try my luck at making a revolutionary MMORPG, and really, the best one possible. And totally do away with all the complaints about all grind and no content many people have about the genre. People would still probably have complaints because it would be so different and therefor controversial. But it'd be the type of MMORPG I would to play, at least. I would assume that it would at least be somewhat catchy.

Oh, and I guess I'd use it as an opportunity to meet some people I really respect. Not some stupid Hollywood stars or anything. But it'd be nice to come across people like Ray Kurzweil, Michio Kaku, Aubrey de Grey, and various other figures...

You know, you never know when somebody like Carl Sagan, Stephen Jay Gould, or Noam Chomsky is going to die. Carl Sagan and Stephen Jay Gould are already dead. And who knows how much longer Noam Chomsky has.

And I guess that's enough for one post. There's a lot of things I'd like to do if I had money.

7 BILLION?!?!

Ok, I would set aside 10 million so that I could retire whenever I wanted. And give a bunch to my family, of course.

Then, I would pour a ton of money into the budget of the game my friends and I are making. Like...We could get a better graphics engine, get more artists, make really well animated models, get top class voice actors...That kind of thing. Basically make it so that our full vision for the game could come to life as we want it.

And then with the rest of the money, I'm...not sure...

I'd probably donate a bunch to cancer/AIDS research, maybe see if I can't fix some corruption in the world somehow...something like that.
