I beat the crap out of my little brother. The "shut the hell up" effect is temporary though , the little brother requires consistent beatings for maximum "shut up the hell up"ness.

I'm the youngest of three, and I was never a little shit so I'm not too sure.

But I had 5 nieces and nephews, two with ADD and when one is being naughty, I don't shout.
I drop to their level, hold them still for a minute and calmly tell them to stop being naughty or I won't be their friend anymore.
But because I'm their auntie, I have a lot more control over them than a sibling. They usually do as I tell them to because they all seem to look up to me.

Failing that....
